Dave Ulrich Speaks to Local Leaders and Executives in Hong Kong on Leadership Sustainability
At the forum jointly organised by the School of Business and Michigan Ross School of Business on 10th December 2014, together with well-known local corporate leaders, HR Guru, author, executive coach, and management consultant Professor Dave Ulrich spoke to a crowd of over four hundred executives and managers. With the full support given by our Interim Dean, Professor Allan Chan and soley sponsored by CITIC China, according to Professor Randy Chiu, Director of our CHRSD, that this forum was a huge success.
Besides Prof Dave Ulrich, local CEOs, and senior executives in attendance as panelists included Ms. Janet Man, Senior Director of Talent Management of McDonald's Asia/Pacific/Middle East/Africa, Mr. William Yeung, CEO and Co-Owner of Hong Kong Broadband Network, and Ms. Jo Shum, Senior Director & General Manager of Philips Lighting Hong Kong & Macau. Both Janet and William are HKBU alumni.
Dave lectured on the hot topic of leadership sustainability, highlighting ways to implement and drive changes in a resistant corporate environment, while other local HR leaders actively shared their views on the topic as well. William shared that a great leader would be one that delegate and the company shall smoothly run without him/her for two to three months. Janet emphasized that the ground-up culture of all management at McDonald's is the core value that forms the spine of the company and helps most employees having the same vision. At last, Jo has inspired her audiences through sharing of her own personal experiences that, to be a leader respected by many, it is important to learn about accepting challenge and humility.
