APAC Business Analyst – Data & Digital projects

Generation seeks to recruit a Business Analyst (BA) to join our fast-paced team in Asia-Pacific. Reporting to the APAC COO, the BA will collaborate with the APAC country and functional teams to assist with the following activities (non-exhaustive list with indicative percentage time):

  1.        Data strategy and compliance – 20%
  2.        Data management and analytics – 50%
  3.        New technology product rollout – 30%


Data strategy and compliance:

  • Conduct diagnostics of current data management and data security practices across countries to identify key areas of improvement
  • Support in creating fit-for purpose data management strategy for APAC countries, and align with global data strategy and technology roadmap
  • Understand prevalent data security and privacy regulations in APAC countries and recommend changes to existing practices and systems to ensure compliance

Data management and analytics:

  • Build scalable data flows (we use Alteryx but would welcome different approaches and tools) that enable us to source, extract, clean, and analyze data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Build clear and compelling visualizations of our data, enabling our country teams to make real-time decisions related to recruitment, learner progress, impact measurement, employer engagement etc.
  • Communicate—visually and verbally—complex data analyses and insights into clear messages for a broad range of audiences, from senior management to frontlines program operators

Technology product roll out:

  • Conduct diagnostics of third-party technology solutions and collaborate with country teams to identify suitable technology solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Manage the roll out of selected tech products by facilitating country team trainings and track the impact on outcomes because of the new technology adoption

Specific requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Need to be driven by our mission to transform education to employment systems to prepare, place, and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible
  • Experience applying technical knowledge of data modeling, design and techniques to take business intelligence requirements from concept to implementation
  • Experience building, automating, and maintaining data flows
  • Experience with a broad range of tools and tech for data management (preferably, a mix of Salesforce and/or relational databases); data analysis (e.g., Excel, Alteryx, Python, R); and data visualization (preferably, PowerBI)
  • Clear and verbal and written communication skills, particularly in the context of telling stories with data to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders – including country leaders, functional leads, implementation teams, external partners
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders and complex program delivery models
  • Orientation to detail, ability to learn fast and being comfortable working through seemingly ambiguous problem statements
  • A growth mindset; self-reflective and open to frequent feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • A positive, solutions-oriented attitude, drive for excellence, and ability to be a team player
  • A strong sense of ownership (takes personal responsibility for meeting objectives) and timeliness
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment
  • This is a remote role and candidates who are based in South-East Asia, Hong Kong, and Australia will be given a preference
