Position Description


ACCOUNTANT – SMARTECH Business Systems (HK) LTD (Formerly Pitney Bowes HK)

We’re looking for an organized and driven Accountant to join our Finance team. The accountant will have both an immediate and lasting impact on all company operations, helping us to strategize savings, perform impactful audits, furnish leadership with crucial information, and grow our financial position. SMARTECH is committed to serving both customers and employees in the best way possible, and it starts with keeping our finances accurately reported, meticulously organize, and vitally strategic.


Principal Accountabilities:

  1.        Perform daily accounting functions and maintain full sets of accounts
  2.        Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas
  3.        Assist in the preparation of the day- to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.
  4.        Forecast cash flow positions, cash flow analysis outlook for 6 months, related borrowing needs, and available funds for operational management
  5.        Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  6.        Oversee the operations of the cash management, treasury functions, corporate governance functions.
  7.        Maintain banking relationships
  8.        Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  9.        Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations.
  10.    Assist in the preparation and analysis of the regular periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned functional areas:
  11.    Perform Balance Sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
  12.    Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance.
  13.    Cross train as back-ups for other staff in the case of emergencies.
  14.    Liaise with auditors & other ad hoc assignments as required

 Tax Management

  •          Prepare reporting packages:  Corporate; Tax; GST/Hong Kong filings/audits, where applicable; Audit Engagement Schedules.


  1. Assist in the preparation of the company's annual budget
  2. Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction


Additional Key Accountabilities:

  1. Oversee the extension of credit to customers
  2. Reduction of the cash cycle conversion
  3. Reduction of aged debtors

Desired Qualifications: The Accountant should have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience and 2+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations. Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly in regard to presenting the results of analyses to management. Should have an outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets.


  •          Strong English and local language required
  •          Strong English written skills required
  •          Report writing skills. Writing formal reports to Directors, Executive Group and Finance Committee.
  •          Advanced IT skills (especially in Excel).
  •          Able to manage change and risk.
  •          Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate financial issues with non-finance professionals and volunteers.
  •          Problem solving ability.
  •          Strong team player.
  •          Excellent interpersonal skills.
  •          Good planning and organisational skills.
  •          Prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines
  •          Knowledge for ACCPAC is preferable
