We are now inviting suitable candidate(s) to join us in the Finance and Facilities Management Office for the following post(s):

Accounting Officer (Payroll) (Ref.: 21001W5)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee shall mainly be responsible for the following:

  • Supervising a team of accounting staff for the day-to-day payroll operations and retirement scheme operations;
  • Performing payroll related payment processing in a timely, accurately and confidential manner;
  • Performing staff cost allocation based on users’ instructions and preparing payroll related reconciliations and reports;
  • Monitoring the retirement scheme administration, including accurate calculation of ORSO/MPF contributions and timely payment to trustees;
  • Handling taxation matters, including employees tax return reporting and filing;
  • Performing period end accounts closing and preparing staff costing analysis;
  • Maintaining proper record keeping / filings and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and the University’s policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of new or revised payroll policies, procedures and system enhancement;
  • Handling and responding to users' enquiries on payroll and tax related matters timely and appropriately; and
  • Undertaking other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Finance and Facilities Management or his delegate.


Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A recognized degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines, preferably with professional accounting qualification;
  • Some years of relevant work experience, preferably at supervisory level and in tertiary educational institutions or sizable organizations;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computerized accounting systems; experience in Oracle Finance System and Oracle Human Resources Management System (HRMS) will be an added advantage;
  • Well versed with Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance, Employment Ordinance, Inland Revenue Ordinance and related legislations;
  • Good team spirit, responsible, methodical, numeric sensitive, attentive to details, self-motivated and able to work closely and engage with various stakeholders;
  • Good command of written and spoken Chinese and English (preferably including Putonghua);
  • Sound organizational, analytical and problem solving skills; and
  • Able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks meeting tight deadlines.

Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
