APAC Strategy Team Member


- Are you motivated to work as part of a cross divisional function that will give you a clear insight into the overall top-down strategy and direction of our bank? Do you have a clear understanding of a specific business line either Investment Bank, Wealth Management or Asset Management and how it operates due to experience either in a similar position or from an external consulting perspective? We are looking for someone like that to:

  • contribute to the development and implementation of our Group strategy in APAC as well as strategic sub-streams across markets and businesses, for the maximization of cross-franchise/OneBank potential across BDs and markets
  • contribute to the development of strategy for each of our business lines in APAC (in collaboration with respective strategy/COO teams of each business line)
  • identify and analyze key strategic partnership, in-organic and investment opportunities for UBS in APAC
  • support our Group's implementation of key global strategic initiatives in the APAC region (in collaboration with Group Strategy and COO/CFO team)
  • collaborate effectively not only with other members of the Chief of Staff and Strategy team, but also with other components of the APAC President Office and close stakeholders, such as the APAC COO, Client Coverage, APAC CFO, Group Regulatory & Governance, business lines’ Strategy/COO teams; as well as global management functions
  • manage a diverse range of projects across different divisions and APAC locations

The APAC President Office focuses on several critical areas, including Asia Pacific Strategy, Chief Operating Office, Client Coverage. The Chief of Staff team supports the APAC President and her Office in the execution of her mandate and responsibilities.

The Asia Pacific Strategy team supports our APAC President in driving the development and implementation of our Group strategy in Asia Pacific. It orchestrates and supports the development of key strategic initiatives of all the business lines (Wealth Management, Asset Management, Investment Bank) and in all 13 countries in the APAC region (Australia/New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand). Its purpose is to enable us to sustain our competitive advantages in the region and globally.
Due to the cross-divisional and cross-market nature of the team, this role offers wide opportunities for the candidate to learn and experience the diverse businesses and areas across the Bank.

You have:

  • A degree from a top-tier university globally; an MBA or Advanced Degree from a major global university is also highly desirable
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of management consulting experience combined with a top tier global firm and/or relevant financial services sector experience with a sound understanding of how a global universal bank operates
  • Strategic mindset and understanding of "C-level" agenda and issues
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities (for conceptual, qualitative and quantitative issues)

  • A professional individual with a track record in building "trusted advisor" relationships and partnerships with senior leaders in business and corporate functions
  • Well connected in the industry
  • Experienced in working across multiple locations in the APAC region and globally
  • Fluent in English with a preference for Mandarin skills (verbal, reading & writing)
  • A self-starter with a dedication for creating positive impact and for new challenges
