Department Overview

Global Market Application Production Support group provides business-aligned production services to support the global market businesses. These services range from client facing and functional support, maintaining and improving the availability, integrity, performance and capacity of the global market technology platforms, to providing and developing governance of process and technology standards.

Objectives
As a member of the Application Support team providing support to the production elements of the trade booking and position keeping applications, referential systems, end-of-day valuation processes for PnL and risk reports generation. This role is centred on:

  • business analysis of Maintenance & Enhancement (M&E), i.e. capturing business requirements, performing gap and impact analysis, producing functional specifications, defining test strategy and arranging User Acceptance Tests (UAT)
  • 1st- and 2nd-level functional application support, covering the whole spectrum of global and regional trade support, referential and PnL systems
  • practical Service Management, i.e. adhering to ITIL methodologies and global standards for change, release, incident, problem and request Management
Application Support
This part of the role requires working closely with other application development, technical production and infrastructure teams to:
  • Act as a single point of contact for APS trade processing department when facing users and global IT teams
  • Maintain effective communication to the users (Trading and Operation teams) and other parties throughout, and where necessary, propose relevant enhancement or bug fixes.
  • Manage and track production problems. Ensure efficient communication with global IT teams.
  • Ensure follow-up on internal and external users’ daily requests
  • Manage production incidents, troubleshooting technical issues and identifying solutions or workarounds to restore normal services to the Business promptly
  • plan, test and perform configuration changes, deployment or upgrade of mission-critical trading applications and systems
  • plan and coordinate UATs with users for application releases
  • pro-actively monitor, manage and improve availability and performance of the production systems
  • pro-actively manage the capacity of the production applications to accommodate trading volume growth
  • provide feedback and propose solutions to Management on performance, capacity and design issues
  • minimise operational failure, including the risk of fraud, by helping to devise and implementing sufficient regular controls
  • compile comprehensive system and process documentation
Business Analysis
This part of the role requires working closely with the business sponsors and users and application development teams to:
  • Be responsible for organizing steering committee meetings / workshops and engaging different stakeholders on APS trade processing related topics.
  • Ensure follow-up on business and technical project impacting APS trade processing department.
  • implement bug fixes and enhancements within the Operations IT platforms
  • itemise, clarify and consolidate business requirements
  • produce clear functional specifications for each project
  • to assess feasibility and define testing, ensuring that business requirements are understood and development plans are in line with the business expectations
  • organise and execute UAT, including:
o documentation and business sign-off of the overall strategy
o documentation and business sign-off of the test plan and scenarios
o testing of enhancement or bug fixes
o documentation and business sign-off of the test results
  • monitor progress and submit regular report on the implementation of the project
  • identify and escalate major issues to management in a timely manner
  • comply with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
  • work effectively with representatives of all departments, from Front Office to Operations and IT, in different locations through good interpersonal and communication skills
  • maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Front to Back trade workflow and operational processes and their systems and interfaces

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must possess tertiary qualification, preferably majoring in IT, with a minimum of 3 years experience in application support, majority of which should have been gained within a Capital Markets context. He/she must be experienced in providing multi-disciplined technical and functional support as part of a team, and have solid knowledge of F2B flows, different listed and OTC structured products, PnL calculation concept and Greeks risk metrics.

The ideal candidate would have strong technical and functional support experience in booking, referential and PNL systems. Exposure to the ITIL framework would also be beneficial.
