The architectural practice of Spence Robinson originated in Shanghai in 1904, and prominent buildings designed there included the Shanghai post office and the race-course, which are still standing today. The firm moved to Hong Kong in 1947, and over the years has established an excellent reputation for the quality of its services. Our many projects throughout Hong Kong include public housing, railway stations, ferry terminal, residential and commercial developments, educational establishments, recreation clubs, industrial buildings, etc.

Spence Robinson Limited today provides professional consultancy services in the disciplines of architecture, project management, interior design, and building surveying. We aim to provide our clients with wide-ranging services of the highest standard, and we strive in all fields to be efficient yet creative, well-administered yet flexible.

Job Scope:

  • Provide conservation planning advice on heritage legislation
  • Preparation of and contribution to heritage statements, heritage impact assessments, statements of significance and associated desk based and archival research, and consent applications within the historic environment
  • Attendance at / and leading on meetings with clients and other technical specialists


Qualification and Experience:

  • Possess a Diploma/Degree/Master in building conservation or the historic environment or architectural history or equivalent
  • Chartered status would be desirable but otherwise qualified by experience
  • A track record of minimum 2 years of providing technical professional architectural services within a consultancy, preferably across the historic built environment
  • Proven experience of operating in a team environment, preferably within a consultancy
  • Fully conversant with the relevant environmental / heritage legislation and guidance
  • Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas and listen to client needs
  • IT literate –a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software packages including CAD
