Key responsibilities:
  • Working closely with business partners and other key stakeholders, keeping aligned to the business direction and influencing decisions that will impact the Operations function in Asia
  • Working closely with project team, ensure a seamless transition to a new operating model, including outsourcing of fund accounting, transfer agency and certain operational functions
  • Help define China operations build-out strategy
  • Refining operating model to ensure exceptional operational support, control & oversight and proactive risk management
  • Ensuring vendors meet and exceed service level agreements through active management and oversight tools
  • Ensure new product development is efficient and supported
  • Partnering with Technology to enhance productivity, improve process efficiency and the client experience
  • Interacting with Regulators and Auditors
  • Participating in industry initiatives and forums, and keeping the firm on the cutting edge
  • Developing and managing the business plan and meet financial targets
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring performance metrics to ensure quality and efficiency in business processes
  • Partnering closely with global and regional managers to establish consistency and best practices
  • Proactively leading the talent agenda including resource planning, talent and performance management, professional skills development and diversity
  • Continuing to increase awareness and application of JPMC Business Principles
  • Acting as an important touch point for key internal investment relationships
  • Helping define and execute a long term strategy for the region that will deliver value to the firm and clients
  • Experience in managing, inspiring and motivating medium-size teams, providing vision, creativity, presence, and credibility
  • Strong sense of prioritization, urgency, execution and delivery with extensive experience of driving process change and efficiencies in a growing business
  • Deep knowledge and experience in fixed income, equities, and derivatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Funds business (manufacturing); mutual and institutional funds
  • Excellent understanding of the investment process and associated market practices with the ability to think strategically about how to create business led solutions
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of investments and enterprise risk
  • Strong service mentality
  • Proven ability to build strong, cohesive partnerships with the Business, Technology and other key stakeholders and work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to challenge, influence and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure decisions are well thought out and can be executed from an operations perspective
  • Sharing ownership and management of the regional Operations model
  • Innovative and creative thought leader with exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to establish and communicate the strategic vision and complex ideas to all levels
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (traditional and/or simplified Chinese) and proficient in Mandarin speaking
  • Solid experience in communicating and dealing with Chinese regulators (possessing strong relationships with them is an advantage)
  • Autonomous decision-making, accountability in a highly matrixed environment, and leading by example
  • Profound knowledge of China market and regulatory development
  • Strong oversight and control mindset
  • Financial and budgeting skills
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) required
  • At least five years’ experience at Executive Director level
