Compliance & Regulatory Management plays a critical role in the successful execution of the firm's compliance mission. The Compliance function ensures the development and maintenance of a strong compliance culture by developing and maintaining program infrastructure that identifies, measures and monitors compliance with applicable laws, regulations and rules that govern our business globally. Compliance teams work closely with business, legal, risk, and audit functions to provide expertise on regulatory compliance matters, assess and measure compliance and related risks, and monitor and test the adequacy of the firm's compliance control environment. Hong Kong Asset Management Compliance provides support to the Hong Kong business which provides asset management products and services to institutional and individual investors worldwide. It offers the full spectrum of investment strategies - from equity, cash management, fixed income, currency and asset allocation to alternative asset classes such as private equity, real estate and hedge funds.

Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compliance personnel to join our Compliance team in Hong Kong. Key responsibilities includes:

  • Provide advice and support to the Hong Kong Asset Management business in respect of compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Review new products, product documentation and registration process prepared by Product Development Team for SFC submission.
  • Partner with Licensing Team on various licensing matters and inquiries.
  • Develop HK Asset Management compliance policies and procedures following updates/changes.
  • Assist in implementation of relevant global and regional compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide compliance training as required.
  • Involvement in other compliance and business related projects / initiatives with potential compliance / regulatory impacts.
  • Liaise and contact with HK regulators (SFC & MPFA) on an on-going basis, handling regulatory enquiries/surveys and requests. Be the project lead for regulatory inspections or investigations. Attend meetings with regulators on regulatory issues or business initiatives.
  • Review new regulations / guidelines issued by the regulators, assess impact on the business, provide comments to industry association/regulators as appropriate, and assist the business in implementation.
  • Carry out ad-hoc tasks and monitoring exercises as directed by the Head of Compliance.
  • You will also focus on ongoing evaluation of adherence with relevant regulations, issue identification, assessing the impact of regulatory change and working with the Asset Management business to build and maintain control mechanisms to remain in compliance with laws and regulations, and to protect the reputation and franchise of the Asset Management business in Hong Kong.

  • Strong background in, and familiarity with the Financial Services Industry and Asset Management business
  • 7 -10 years of compliance advisory experience within Asset management industry
  • Strong knowledge of SFC rules applicable to asset management business and MPF Regulations with a strong ability to interpret regulations and assess operational compliance
  • SFC/MPFA working experience will be advantage.
  • Meticulous attention to details and quality.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal and influencing skills. The candidate should have the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with business leaders, control functions and corporate partners.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of compliance function activities
  • Willingness to work as part of a tight Compliance team, where interdependencies will be common and ongoing.
  • Track record in building good working relationships and embracing change
  • Willingness to perform ad hoc task as and when required.
  • Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management and peers
  • Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English and Chinese. Proficient in Mandarin is an advantage
