The Role:

The Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific Equities team (EMAP) is currently looking for an Australian Country Research Analyst at VP level to cover the Australian market and companies, with an initial emphasis on mid and large cap companies.

The role will include working closely with the regional Portfolio Manager and Analyst team.

The responsibility of the Australian country analyst is to cover a broad base of Australian equities that are relevant to regional fund managers (including having financial forecasts, and managing interactions with both the company and sell-side analysts). The breadth of coverage will be across multiple sectors. Additionally the person is expected to provide timely macroeconomic, political and company insights.

The users of research will be regional EMAP portfolio managers and analysts who invest in or cover companies in Australia.

Key responsibilities :

  • Research the Australian economy, companies and industries; cover the Australian market and select stocks.
  • Create and utilizes financial models for investment valuation. Technical excel and modelling skills are essential.
  • Make relative value comparisons and investment recommendations to portfolio managers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with a global network of JPMAM analysts.

Skills and Experience:

  • Successful candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant investment experience; prior experience in Australian Country Research is preferred
  • Key skills are analytical skill, measured investment judgement, decision-making, intellectual curiosity, intellectual honesty, teamwork, pro-active communication
  • Successful candidates should be pro-active in finding new investment ideas as well as thorough in understanding, valuing and maintaining coverage on existing investments
  • This is a demanding job requiring highly motivated individuals who are willing to work hard to build up their knowledge base, performance track record and credibility within the team.
