Role Description

An opportunity has arisen for a seasoned professional to join the Global Guidelines Management team as a Strategic Implementation Specialist. The team’s focus is to safeguard the fund management process by controlling and effectively mitigating portfolio risk by coding and monitoring investment restrictions. As a senior member of the team you would serve as a key interface to the Equity, Fixed Income, Multi Asset Solutions, Liquidity and Beta investment businesses as well as be responsible for system enhancements and other strategic investment projects. In addition, the successful candidate will partner with Guideline Management leadership and analysts across the globe, plus key stakeholders in Client Service, Chief Data Office, Compliance, Funds Management, Product Development, Technology, and Risk Management to advance an aggressive agenda. The individual should be able to distill high level and detailed functional requirements for guideline restriction controls and work with the global team to ensure they are incorporated within the overall Guideline Management program.

The successful candidate will join the Guideline Management Team will work closely with the investment desks and business management teams to ensure adherence to guidelines while continuously improving quality and addressing the administrative burden through innovative solutions.

  • Build strong understanding of business strategies for each of the product desks in order to be able to support to provide daily support
  • Be a main point of contact to front office teams (including fund managers, dealing desks, business management, trade implementation team etc.)
  • Develop best in class guideline practices to minimize manual intervention by investment professionals
  • Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Work with Technology to implement automated solutions to enhance systems and processes for maximum efficiency
  • Code investment guidelines into Fidessa’s Sentinel and similar applications
  • Implement solutions to challenges and issues that are raised by stakeholders across the business
  • Enhance end-to-end process flow to improve efficiency and enhance control
  • Foster strong partnerships with leaders across Global Guideline Management in order to achieve strategic initiatives
  • Produce effective and relevant management information
Essential Experience
  • At least 7 to 10 years of experience in Fixed Income, Equity, Guideline (pre/post trade) Compliance or Risk Management
  • Broad understanding of global markets and products
  • Knowledge of investment processes and portfolio construction
  • Experience in managing relationship with the front office teams
  • Knowledge of Guideline Management functions from both a control and technology perspective
  • Established track record of execution and delivery within a complex environment
  • Proven ability to drive change
  • Highly structured with proven ability to prioritize daily tasks and project initiatives
  • Knowledge of technology infrastructure is helpful
  • Self-starter that is comfortable working in a dynamic environment, at a fast pace
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to articulate complex issues concisely
  • Flexibility and willingness to engage across diverse areas across the firm globally
  • Credibility to interact effectively across a number of different disciplines and teams
  • Relationship-building and influencing skills to drive the global control agenda
Preferable Experience / Profile
  • Understanding of the investment process and products within asset management. Solid experience in investment compliance/monitoring would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of 1940 Act, UCITS, SFC and MPFA regulations
  • Fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin)
