Assistant Administrative Manager II, Department of Economics

The appointee will supervise and work with other administrative staff in the Department’s Taught Postgraduate Programme Office to provide administrative and operational support to the Master of Science in International and Development Economics (MIDE) Programme and the Master of Science in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme.  The appointee shall oversee a wide range of duties pertaining to Department’s taught postgraduate programmes including, but not limited to, (a) programme promotion, administration and operations; (b) teaching and learning activities; (c) liaison with University’s internal units and external parties; (d) quality-assurance measures like Five-year Programme Review and Annual Programme Report; (e) support for programme-level committees; and (f) any tasks as assigned by the supervisor.


General Requirements

Applicants should have (i) a bachelor’s degree; (ii) at least seven years’ work experience, preferably in higher education sector at officer rank or above; (iii) proven record in supervising and developing administrative team; (iv) good interpersonal and communication skills, (v) strong analytical thinking and problem solving ability; (vi) excellent proficiency in English and Chinese (fluency in Putonghua a must); (vii) high competency in MS office applications; (viii) a great sense of responsibility; (ix) strong desire to learn and improve; and (x) good team spirit to work with colleagues with different backgrounds and styles.


Previous experience in taught postgraduate programme administration in the university setting and/or knowledge of the higher education sector in Mainland China will be an advantage.


Salary and Benefits

Commencing salary, from $ 31,750.- to $ 50,840.-, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The salary range is based on the current University salary scale which may be adjusted by the University, as appropriate.  Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
