Assistant Director of Finance

A South Central NHS Trust has a new opportunity for an Interim Assistant Director of Finance. The post holder will be an accomplished senior finance professional, reporting to the Director of Finance.

Main role responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and performance management of the Financial Accounting Team, Treasury Management, Procurement and Charity;
  • Lead the Annual Accounts Process;
  • Ensure appropriate accounting rules are followed to ensure that the Trust receives unqualified accounts;
  • Lead the capital planning process ensuring the smooth running of the Capital Management Group and its 3 subgroups;
  • Manage the effective delivery of the capital programme to ensure that the capital budget is delivered;
  • Lead the Treasury Function, ensuring detailed cash flow reports are shared with board and understood and that any risk to liquidity is mitigated;
  • Manage an effective payroll function and appropriate re-procurement and contract management.

A successful candidate will have

  • CCAB qualification
  • Experience leading the year-end accounts for a NHS Trust
  • Strong technical skills
  • Willingness to ‘roll the sleeves up’
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
