Established in 2009, Hong Kong Green Building Council (“the Council") is the leading body, co-founded by four major construction industry and environmental organisations, driving the market transformation towards green and sustainable buildings in Hong Kong through engagement with the industry, the government and broader community.

HKGBC is expanding its secretariat team in line with its positioning as Hong Kong's leading member-based body dedicated to green building development, with opening for the post of Assistant Manager - Sustainable Development:

Job Description

Driving the building sector towards sustainable built environment, advancing net zero and adoption of UN sustainable development goals.

To achieve this, the Assistant Manager – Sustainable Development will be expected to:

  • initiate project development and prepare funding application
  • develop reports and publications internally, through engaging consultants or working with expert groups
  • assist in research, development and mainstreaming of solutions related to low / net zero carbon building and decarbonisation of the built environment.
  • initiate and organise campaigns and events such as conference, seminar, ceremony, etc..
  • engage relevant industry stakeholders such as HKGBC members, government departments, professional institutions, NGOs, research institutions and universities for partnerships and execution of projects / programmes.
  • provide Secretariat management services to ensure smooth operation of Sustainable Development Committee and its corresponding task forces and steering committees, liaise with and report to members on related matters.
  • liaise and work with the World Green Building Council on their related activities and programs.



  • Bachelor degree or above in Building Construction and Management, Building Science and Sustainability, environmental science or management or in any relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years post graduated working experience in building and construction industry in which
    • Minimum 3 years relevant working experience related to sustainable building and green / low carbon building / decarbonisation of built environment, and
    • Minimum 1 year in supervise consultants / contractors for efficient and effective project delivery, monitoring progress and service quality.
  • More relevant experience can be considered as Manager – Sustainable Development. 
  • Strong project management skills, ability to prioritise tasks, with good analytical skills and high level of professionalism.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Adobe Illustrator etc.
  • Be able to work both independently and in a team, with good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.
