Assistant Manager - Food Safety and Quality Assurance

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the qualification and approval of potential new food vendors and sites
    Ensure appropriate food safety assessments have been conducted and documented for all food manufacturing sites;
  • Communicate and assist vendors as well as internal teams (e.g. Merchandise) in implementing and maintaining expected QA Lidl requirements;
  • Review and approve internal Product Specifications & Artworks for the developed products based on company requirements and in compliance with selling countries’ regulations.
  • Design and approve testing protocols for developed products based on company requirements and selling markets (EU, US) regulations. Plan and coordinate positive release though Third Party Tests as well as QC inspections.
  • Ensure developed products consistently comply with European (EFSA) and U.S. FDA (Food & Drug Administration) and USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) regulations for imported foods as well as Lidl Standards and requirements.
  • Support in building and leading a team of Auditors in countries of production (e.g. China, Thailand, Philippines) as well as in developing a local QA team dedicated to project management.
    Lead investigation and resolution of food safety and quality issues (example: complaints) at vendor facility.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventative actions are satisfactorily completed to prevent re-occurrence. Ensures learnings are shared across all locations to improve processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Food Science or related field
  • More than 8 years in Quality Assurance in food business, preferably with previous experience in retail
  • In depth knowledge of Food Safety & Quality Management Systems such as ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, GFSI (BRC, IFS, FSSC22000)
  • Commercially driven with deep understanding in project management in Food and preferably Non Food (Household & Personal Care) areas
  • Broad vision, self motivated and able to communicate and all levels
  • High degree of work ethics and integrity
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Excellent at problem solving, strategic thinking and planning
  • Good PC knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent  command of written and spoken English & Chinese (Mandarin)
  • Travel required
