INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE
Assistant Manager / Project Officer (two posts) (Ref. 19100903-E)
The Innovation and Technology Development Office (ITDO) oversees (i) the advancement of major research and development initiatives with knowledge transfer potential as well as the management of intellectual property portfolio of the University; and (ii) the creation of new technology development and transfer opportunities through collaborative research/projects with the government/non-government organizations, industry and business communities. The ITDO supports the University’s mission to develop and apply technology arising from its research, resulting in the expanded use of University intellectual property in the government/non-government organizations, industry and business communities.
The appointees will report to the Director of Innovation and Technology Development or his delegates and be required to:
(a) assist in the management and implementation of collaborative projects, programmes and activities of the Office’s Intellectual Property Management Section and Collaboration Research & Technology Development Section;
(b) actively liaise with the academic and research community, industry and various stakeholders to enable effective implementation of projects and initiatives set forth by the Office;
(c) plan, organize, coordinate and implement events, meetings, seminars, workshops, projects, maintain websites, and various marketing activities of the Office;
(d) assist in technical writing duties, such as editorial work, preparation and production of promotional materials, website contents, newsletters and reports of the Office; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation and Technology Development or his delegates.
The appointees will be required to work beyond normal office hours when necessary.
(a) have a recognised degree in Science, Technology, Communication and/or Business;
(b) possess at least five years of post-qualification, professional and relevant experience, and a minimum of one to two years of experience at supervisory level for applicants for the post of Assistant Manager;
(c) possess at least three years of post- qualification, professional and relevant experience for applicants for the post of Project Officer;
(d) have understanding on technology transfer, intellectual property and extensive event organization and project execution experience, preferably with experience related to Greater Bay Area;
(e) be highly motivated, result-oriented and be able to work under pressure;
(f) possess a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
(g) have good knowledge of computer software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and/or Photoshop; and
(h) possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
