Assistant Officer (Building Services and Systems) [Role: Assistant Engineer (Electrical / Building Services and Systems)] (PR0338/20-21)

The appointees will be members of the Building Services and Systems Section in the Estates Office.


  • Excellent knowledge of electrical service engineering and associated work experience in design, installation, operation and maintenance;
  • Assist in energy-saving projects, energy management and campus energy data analysis;
  • Be responsible for budget estimation and preparation of tender documents for fitting-out projects and improvement works including design drawings and technical specifications;
  • Take part in the day-to-day electrical and mechanical (E&M) plant operations, repairs and maintenance of building services at the University, preparation of E&M routine and preventive maintenance plans and performing of regular site supervision;
  • Liaise with end users, consultants and contractors in connection with building services installation works, fitting-out projects and maintenance contract;
  • Assist in ad hoc tasks as assigned; and
  • Perform shift or emergency duties as necessary.


  • A higher diploma in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or above with substantial years of relevant post-qualification experience in building services;
  • A valid Registered Electrical Worker Grade A or above;
  • Familiar with statutory requirements and Codes of Practice;
  • Experience in Central Control and Monitoring System (CCMS), computer-aided design (AutoCAD) and facilities management is highly desired;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to liaise with end users to ensure user requirements are properly captured; and
  • A good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of up to two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
