Assistant Quality Technologist - Clothing

In a nutshell

  • Support responsible Technologist in daily operations in supplier management, product development and testing requirements
  • Maintain effective working relationship with related internal and external stakeholders in Asia and UK

What I need to do

  • Ensure suppliers understand Sainsbury's Technical Requirements
  • Assist Senior Quality Technologist to implement Technical strategies to support the business growth
  • Support responsible Technologist in ensuring technical approvals & timeliness adhere to the Critical Path, coordinating hand in hand with UK, Merchandiser & supplier
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product quality and process requirements
  • Support in product appraisal process and coordinating with responsible Technologist for sealing approvals
  • On-site supplier visits for manufacturing reviews and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues across all global supply base.
  • Provide support in incident management, escalations and continuous improvements
  • Participation in buying trips
  • Develop and maintain relationship with external stakeholders including suppliers and third party inspection and testing service providers

What I need to know

  • Relevant manufacturing / engineering degree is preferred
  • Up to 2 years related QA experience in sourcing, retail, manufacturing or product development environment
  • Good knowledge of quality systems, ethical audits, testing requirements and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Robust personality able to work under pressure and make balanced decisions
  • Competent in problem solving
  • General commercial awareness, experience in dealing with customer and suppliers
  • Experience with manufacturing practices in Asia
  • Knowledge of future technologies coming into the industry such as 3D and digital way of working
  • Familiar with UK legislation and requirements
  • Fluently written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Willingness to travel within Asia
