Associate Director V Business Development & Asset Management Oversight [Ref. CLPH-BDAMO-AD]

We are looking for a high caliber individual who is dynamic, analytical and innovative to join Business Development & Asset Management Oversight team in our Group Finance department. Reporting to the Senior Director - Business Development & Asset Management Oversight, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage M&A activities that fit into the CLP Group strategy and business needs for China, India, Australia, Hong Kong (non-SoC) and South-East Asia. Supervise all phases of the transaction including LOI, IM reviews, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, legal documentation and integration plan.
  • Work with business development teams to ensure the planning and execution of joint venture strategies including early development, cost sharing, operational and exit strategies are performed in line with the CLP Group Investment Strategy.
  • Formulate business plans for new, unconventional Innovation businesses. Work with Innovation team to evaluate structures, profitability and transaction risk.
  • Review the economic and financial analysis of projects developed by subsidiaries and provide cross-functional support to analyse and evaluate the financial implication of each transaction and presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and publish the annual CLP Group Cost of Capital study on different markets. Disseminate results across the Group and ensure consistency of application.
  • Enhance CLP Group’s long term analytical capabilities. Develop training and knowledge sharing programs to increase the skill, capability and consistency of application across the Group.
  • Manage a high performing team and build the skills and competencies in corporate finance, project analysis and modelling skills of all team members.


  • A recognised university degree in finance, economics, engineering or relevant quantitative disciplines, with professional qualification such as CPA, CFA.
  • Minimum 15 years’ relevant working experience within which minimum 6 years should be at managerial level with professional staff as direct reportees.
  • Fluent in English and Putonghua. Good command of writing skills in English and Chinese.
  • Experience and knowledge in power utilities and renewable energy including M&A. Experience in international market is highly desired.
  • Hands-on experience in overseeing investment and conducting investment research and analysis.
  • Business acumen with proven ability to make sound judgments in a climate of significant change.
  • Strong leadership, commitment and communication skills.
