The Role Responsibilities

  • Work on Restricted Financial Institutions referral made by Business Banking and support ongoing client management for the portfolio managed by the unit and ad-hoc IPO related projects if any.
  • Assist the senior sales team in day to day client management and follow up process with internal product and service partners.
  • Overall purpose is to provide high degree of support and being able to manage most of usual transactional work independently. Hence, learn by undertaking job elements in Relationship follow up, credit, service process and product proposals.
  • Provide direct support to GAM/RM on all non-origination activities with a focus on client risk, and deal teams if required:
  • Manage client risk on behalf of the business as it pertains to client onboarding and product cross-selling across the Bank’s footprint,
  • Ensure business complies with all internal policies and regulations in the major hubs with a view to supporting footprint markets as needed,
  • Ensure quality assurance, control mapping and continuous improvement as business requirements evolve and change,
  • Increase the speed to market through process efficiencies across the major hubs whilst implementing best practice and adherence to market standards especially in footprint markets,
  • Develop and implement SLAs or guidance documents with other internal functions as appropriate,
  • Identify related work streams as it impacts the global segment, project manage work streams and participate on committees as appropriate and assigned,
  • Support regulatory projects with products, legal and process/control implementation including self-audits and internal audits,
  • Demonstrate internal leadership to arrive at a solution-based approach across the hubs and value chain on behalf of the client,
  • Other projects as assigned.
In facilitating sales and credit support process, including:
  • Periodically identify business opportunities by analysing various media sources, business contacts and other statistics looking for areas of untapped business,
  • Maintain contact with internal customers/product partners of the unit/portfolio at appropriate level. Taking opportunity to develop personal relationships and add value,
  • Provide monthly MIS and ad hoc reporting to whole FI and other segment teams for performance management,
  • Prepare Credit Applications where appropriate in a comprehensive and timely manner. Follow up closely with clients on interim/annual financials and provide summary analysis on spreads,
  • Undertake regular review of processes and provide solutions for improvement,
  • Assist in completion/renewal of CDD process and documentation,
  • Proactively monitor excess reports and communicate at appropriate level with clients to regularize accounts. Discuss any abnormal account behaviour with concerned RM,
  • Follow-up referrals made by Business banking on Restricted FIs initiative. Provide support in terms of conducting background due diligence, onboarding, etc and follow up works in terms of call reports, meeting minutes and action identified,
  • Liaison with Payments, Account Services, Customer Service Group, FMO, Securities Services and other internal areas for follow-up or provision of customer service if needed,
  • Proactively build network with key products partners at appropriate level – both to gain products knowledge and use personal relationship to gain swift response,

In facilitating other process,

  • Provide support to Bankers when identifying new business opportunities by understanding client risks which include but no limited to AML, Geography, product, control environment and other related risks,
  • Conduct on-site value chain risk due-diligence within the hubs/footprint markets with a view to assessing and improving execution across the end-to-end client onboarding processes, certification required,
  • Conduct self-audits on identified key risk areas and escalate any issues as and when appropriate with a focus on high risk domiciles,
  • Monitor RWA calculations until further system enhancement,
  • Assist with any Financial Institutions Segment related Audits as required,

Project Management

  • Participates in committees and working groups to establish or implement new policies, procedures, best practices, automation or regulations,
  • Develop project processes and templates and then ensure consistent use of templates and adherence to the defined processes,
  • Support the successful delivery of projects undertaken through effective facilitation, tracking and reporting.
Risk Management
  • Client risks when conducting business with Standard Chartered which may include AML, Geography, Product, sanction, PEPs or other related items,
  • Investors platform and delivering it across the footprint, Network business,
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor degree in Banking or Finance preferred,
  • Risk, Policy & onboarding background with strong products and client knowledge,
  • Strong knowledge of bank systems and reference data,
  • Audit and regulatory background preferred,
  • ACAMS or equivalent certification as needed,
  • Good project management skills,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to mange all aspects of client risk management.
