Our Client, a Japanese bank, is looking for the captioned role to join the support team in Hong Kong.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to Group Head of Investment Advisory Group II – Private Equity for advisory/management of existing fund investments in certain geography (e.g. Asia, Europe, America) or strategies (e.g. buyout, growth venture, infrastructure, secondaries ...etc)
  • As a supporting role, to identify investment opportunities and support senior professionals on conducting market research, due diligence data analysis and evaluating potential investment opportunities.  
  • Will support Group Head in managing relationships and monitoring of existing fund relationship in certain geography or strategies
  • Will conduct the development PE/Infrastructure related investment products and potential investors, together with Group Head

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Building New Relationships

  • Building new relationships through all channels including cold calls and referrals
  • Represents the team and be active communicator with external managers and look for new investment opportunities
  • As needed, to negotiate with over-subscribed fund managers, for allocation of investment opportunities. 

Monitoring Investments

  • Monitoring existing fund investments and ongoing financial performance of portfolio companies
  • Coordinates with Team secretary and Team’s fund administrative officer with respect to monitoring ongoing investments capital call, distributions...etc
  • As needed basis, presentation of fund performance
  • As needed basis, support Team secretary or Team’s fund administrative officer on verification on capital call and distribution notice.

Conduct Market Research

  •  Periodically, at least semi-annually, conduct market research for circulation to relevant parties.
  • Based on the market research, support Group Head in developing investment strategies in certain region.

Evaluation of Investment Opportunities

  •  Maintain fund calendar for developing shortlisted funds.
  • Support senior professionals on evaluation of investment opportunities including data analysis of investment opportunities and company research.
  • Support senior professionals on peer comparison of investment opportunities.
  • Making presentation of recommendation to shortlisted funds semi-annually to Tokyo HQ/ clients.

Developing Investment Recommendation

  • Support senior professionals to review, analyze investment opportunities, develops and write investment recommendations for potential investment opportunities.
  • Making presentation to Tokyo HQ on investment recommendations.
  • Make reference calls on relevant investment opportunities.
  • Review legal checklist for potential investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Tokyo HQ on calling investment committee procedure and manage timeline for subscription. 

Attending Investor Conferences and one-to-one meetings with external managers.

  • As best practice, complete meeting memo as soon as practicable for circulation to relevant parties.

Participate and contributing to regular internal meetings.

Support senior professionals on as needed basis.

Other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

 Assist in training Junior team members

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years in private equity related investment, equity research, asset management, consulting, investment advisor or family office.
  • MBA or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • CFA, CAIA, CPA, CA designation is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience in private equity firm will be considered with priority.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as presentation skills.
  • Strong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills.
  • Professionalism, integrity and strong sense of responsibility.
  • Flexibility, adaptability to Japanese culture, initiative and creativity
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Team player who is used to working in high performance culture
  • Willingness to travel is a must.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
