Role Purpose:

The Business Development and Partnerships Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible to mainly drive new business from the Chamber’s wide portfolio of sponsorship, membership, professional services and advertising programs. The ideal candidate will be mature and independent, driving new business and partnership opportunities by engaging various leads within the business community. The Business Development and Partnerships Manager can expect both a demanding and rewarding work experience in one of Hong Kong’s most vibrant international chambers of commerce.

We are here to serve our members from not only Canada, but also other foreign jurisdictions based in Hong Kong to provide various services such as advocacy engagement, business promotion, business matching, learning & training seminars, site visits and delegation visits.

Job Description:

  • Business Development
    • Drive and execute new business opportunities from existing service programs including corporate sponsorship, membership, professional services and advertisement, adhering to the team’s monthly sales KPIs.
    • Develop and execute a strategy to renew and secure platinum, gold and other sponsors.
    • Monitor current market trends and supply competitor activity information.
    • Develop new and strengthen existing business development strategies.
  • Partnership Engagement
    • Working with the Executive Director, to source and strengthen partnership opportunities with other Chambers of Commerce, associations, business organizations and government entities in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region to build long term strategic business collaboration.
  • Corporate Management
    • Manage the business development monthly production and expense reports.
      Coordinate budget planning for the team.
  • Team Development and Collaboration
    • Coach and lead Management Trainees to achieve overall corporate goals and objectives.
    • Work effectively with colleagues in other business development-related teams including membership services, corporate communications and events management.
  • Other duties
    • Assist with other Chamber-wide initiatives as required.

Role Requirements:

  • Legal right to work in Hong Kong
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sales/business development
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. Business, Marketing, Events Management)
  • Proven success in securing funding and support from private sector
  • International experience an advantage to work inter-culturally
  • Fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
  • Able to work independently and be a proactive and energetic team player with self-motivation, creativity and positive working attitude
  • Strong organization and leadership abilities with excellent interpersonal skills
