The core focus of this role is to implement business development strategies and campaigns for our Hong

Kong and other Greater China offices and under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager,

ensuring effective, high-quality and timely delivery. This will involve establishing productive relationships

across the business development team in Greater China, and at times in the Asia Pacific region or

elsewhere, as well as with partners, lawyers and other business services teams.

Key Responsibilities

To assist in the implementation of business development strategies and their resulting activities under the

direction of the Manager. The focus will vary depending on sector and circumstances, and as agreed with

the Manager but will include:

  • The organisation and administration of events and other elements involved in campaigns. The role will

also encompass:

  • Planning and organising all aspects of seminars and hospitality events
  • E-communications in relation to events and effective management of appropriate mailing lists
  • Internal promotion of events and up to date depiction of events on the firm's website
  • Liaison with and management of external event and venue organisers and suppliers and internal

business services resources depending on events

  • Front of house duties at events and appropriate reflection of the firm
  • Researching and holding information on event venues and organisers for use by others in Business


  • The drafting and production of marketing materials
  • Assisting with ad hoc translation, formatting as well as working with the design teams
  • Preparation and production of client pitch documents or other capability materials, involving:
  • Developing and maintaining a matter database
  • Maintaining a pitch log with appropriate details
  • Providing first drafts for major pitches and working with the appropriate Business Development

Manager to complete the pitch

  • Assisting with ad hoc translation, proofing and formatting
  • Providing client and sector research for legal and business development teams
  • Gathering information for the completion of pitches from partners and associates
  • Monitoring the progress of pitches ensuring the results are communicated to the appropriate


  • Management of client information and the compilation of data and reports for partner groups
  • Supporting the Business Development Manager in the development and implementation of client

development, sector and practice plans

  • Undertaking the production of directory submissions and managing the interview process
  • Updating sector web pages and producing other e-communications
  • Managing communications via our social media sites: Twitter, WeChat & LinkedIn
  • Assisting with our PR initiatives by disseminating press releases and coordinating interviews
  • Managing client, sector, office and lawyer data in the firm's Interaction CRM system
  • The role may also entail:
  • Contributing to the formulation of business development plans
  • Working on APAC or firm-wide business development initiatives, such as the Key Account programme

or firm-wide campaigns, as directed by your manager

  • It will be expected that the Business Development Coordinator:
  • Understand, support and communicate the key aims of the firm's business development agenda
  • Contribute to the continuing development of business development tools that support the

implementation of our plans

  • Maintain the operational standards of the Business Development Department, as directed by your


  • Exemplify the attributes that we wish to communicate to the market

Candidate Profile

Academic and executive skills

University qualifications in marketing, law or a business-related discipline.

Law firm experience preferred

Robust commercial sense and a deep interest in the business world

Strong IT skills with experience of CRM systems (preferably InterAction), e-communication software

and PowerPoint

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities within tight timescales

Able to work to tight deadlines under pressure and to assimilate information quickly

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese

Demonstrates attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

Interpersonal skills

Committed team player, valuing the importance of teamwork, connecting people and activities across

the team and across our offices

Strong interpersonal skills including confidence, open-mindedness, diplomacy, empathy and the ability

to gain credibility quickly

Optimistic and tenacious with the ability to pro-actively drive initiatives forward and motivate
