  • Sub-regional Engineering Manager

    Position Objectives:

    • Provide senior level effective engineering support to deliver the premises build and operation engineering program. That program focuses on the total life cycle of engineering including design, construction, operation and maintenance of the bank’s critical electrical and mechanical systems supporting Data Centers, Trading areas, Business Recovery Facilities and other business critical systems and provides technical support to less critical MEP systems.
    • Working closely with our project and property management service providers and project consultants, ensure that all projects are proactively managed, delivered and operated in accordance with the bank’s premises and engineering standards and policies.
    • Ensure strong connectivity to the bank’s corporate business partners, service providers, and corporate real estate global and regional functional teams to achieve alignment to corporate real estate’s and the bank’s objectives and ensure best-in-class service delivery.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Projects
    • Support the D&C Engineering Manager on major projects including:
      • Preparation of initial budgets;
      • Preparation of design briefs;
      • Manage, and at times conduct, due diligence;
      • Participate in the negotiation of MEP Lease and Service Agreement Terms and Conditions; and
      • Review, comment and ensure compliance with the bank’s standards in the Design, Tender, Construction, T&C, IST, Handover, Maintenance and Project Closure documents and the project delivery.
    • Interface with the D&C function to support MEP elements of fit outs managed by the project teams.
    • Monitor and support the MEP projects carried out by the Property Management technical and local teams.

    Premises
    • Provide engineering support to the Property Management teams around the region to:
      • Maximize availability of engineering systems while optimizing OpEx and CapEx;
      • Ensure appropriate property due diligence and landlord discussions occur for lease renewals relating to engineering systems;
      • Oversee local teams management of the Data Centers and Business Resiliency Facilities;
      • Provide strategic guidance to premises financial budgeting and planning;
      • Provide incident management and Root Cause Analysis support.

    Governance
    • Carry out design, operation and maintenance audits of the critical systems to ensure statutory compliance and operational availability of the critical systems engineering infrastructure;
    • Review engineering design, operation and maintenance documentation and comment on best practice, value engineering, JPMorgan’s OE standards and project delivery.

    Others
    • Act as the firm’s Engineering Representative;
    • Provide advice and guidance on MEP Engineering to the corporate real estate team and other corporate departments and businesses;
    • Liaise with business and resilience teams to establish internal customer MEP requirements;
    • Lead engagement with local GTI partners;
    • In conjunction with the D&C Engineer, participate in the development of the regional MEP Build Standards for commercial offices and non-core Data Centers;
    • Interface with the local Property Management technical and local teams to incorporate their feedback into improved design standards and future project implementations;
    • Provide 24x7 on-call support to incident management.
Experience/Skills Set:
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience with Critical Systems including data centers and trading floors;
  • Experience within a multi-national preferably within the Banking sector;
  • Familiarity with regional engineering practice and engineering related laws and regulations;
  • Experience in project and vendor management;
  • Proven executor in the delivery of projects and new initiatives;
  • Sensitive to, and capable of managing, all aspects of engineering risk;
  • A creative and lateral thinker being open to new ideas and able to adopt and implement change effectively;
  • Experience delivering objectives via a remote team and sensitive to cultural differences around the region;
  • Team player with high ethical standards and able to manage change and diversity;
  • Good all round communication skills in receiving, delivering, and broadcasting information to effectively communicate with both local and international clients and co-workers – proficiency in written and spoken English is essential;
  • Computer literate, proficient in Excel and very familiar with word and power point;
  • Experience in renewable energy management would be an advantage.

Qualifications:
  • A relevant degree (electrical, mechanical or building services);
  • Preferably professionally registered engineer;
  • Lesser qualifications with significant relevant experience will be considered.
