Position Objectives:

  • The overall objective of the role is to work closely with our third party property managers to ensure no interruption to business and to continuously enhance the workplace experience provided to all staff, visitors and clients of the firm. Size of the portfolio managed is 6MM sqft across 14 countries.
  • Provide senior level effective engineering oversight to deliver the premises build and operations engineering program. This program focuses on the total life cycle of engineering including design, construction, operation and maintenance of the bank’s critical electrical and mechanical systems supporting Data Centers, Trading areas, Business Recovery Facilities and other business critical systems including technical support to all MEP systems.
  • Working closely with our property management service providers and project consultants, ensure that all projects are proactively managed, delivered and operated in accordance with the bank’s premises and engineering standards and policies.
  • Ensure strong connectivity to the bank’s corporate business partners, service providers, and corporate real estate global and regional functional teams to achieve alignment to corporate real estate’s and the bank’s objectives and ensure best-in-class service delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Engineering Projects and Operations
  • Work in partnership with the property management service providers and the local and regional Engineering teams to ensure the critical systems are adequately monitored and maintained to minimize the risk of any failure causing an impact on the ability of the business in any sites to operate.
  • Support the D&C Engineering Manager on major projects including:
    • Preparation of initial budgets;
    • Preparation of design briefs;
    • Manage, and at times conduct, due diligence;
    • Participate in the negotiation of MEP Lease and Service Agreement Terms and Conditions; and
    • Review, comment and ensure compliance with the bank’s standards in the Design, Tender, Construction, T&C, IST, Handover, Maintenance and Project Closure documents and the project delivery.
  • Interface with the D&C function to support MEP elements of fit outs managed by the project teams.
  • Provide advice and guidance on MEP Engineering to the corporate real estate team and other corporate departments and businesses.
  • Lead engagement with local GTI partners.
  • In conjunction with the D&C Engineer, participate in the development of the regional MEP Build Standards for commercial offices and non-core Data Centers.
  • Interface with the local Property Management technical and local teams to incorporate their feedback into improved design standards and future project implementations.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support to incident management.

  • Work in partnership with the property management service providers and the local GRE teams to ensure the level of service provided at all sites remains consistently high whilst developing new cost effective techniques that maximize resources and result in an uplift to service delivery.
  • Monitor and support the MEP projects carried out by the Property Management technical and local teams:
    • Maximize availability of engineering systems while optimizing OpEx and CapEx;
    • Ensure that appropriate property due diligence and landlord discussions occur for lease renewals relating to engineering systems;
    • Oversee the property management service providers and co-lo managers of the Data Centers and Business Resiliency Facilities;
    • Provide strategic guidance to premises financial budgeting and planning; and
    • Provide incident management and Root Cause Analysis support.

  • Carry out design, operation and maintenance audits of the critical systems to ensure statutory compliance and operational availability of the critical systems engineering infrastructure; and
  • Review engineering design, operation and maintenance documentation and comment on best practice, value engineering, JPMorgan’s OE standards and project delivery.

Client Relationships

  • Be a trusted GRE advisor and partner through the ongoing development of relationships with the line of business management teams and support them in the development of their business strategy.
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships;
    • Liaise with business and resilience teams to establish internal customer MEP requirements;
    • Anticipate client needs and recommend appropriate solutions; and
    • Ensure clients are consistently informed of progress towards meeting agreed objectives.

  • A relevant engineering degree (electrical, mechanical or building services);
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in one or more real estate functions;
  • Experience within a multi-national preferably within the Banking sector;
  • Familiarity with regional engineering practice and engineering related laws and regulations;
  • Experience in project and vendor management;
  • Proven executor in the delivery of projects and new initiatives;
  • Sensitive to, and capable of managing, all aspects of engineering risk;
  • A creative and lateral thinker being open to new ideas and able to adopt and implement change effectively;
  • Experience delivering objectives to a remote team and sensitive to cultural differences around the region;
  • Team player with high ethical standards and able to manage change and diversity;
  • Good all round communication skills in receiving, delivering, and broadcasting information to effectively communicate with both local and international clients and co-workers – proficiency in written and spoken English is essential;
  • Computer literate, proficient in Excel and very familiar with word and power point;
  • Experience in renewable energy management would be an advantage.
