Location: Hong Kong/ Singapore

Position Objectives:

The overall objective of this role is to provide leadership and direction to ensure efficient and effective management of the Data Center (DC) portfolio across the APAC region. In this role you will work closely with respective Managers, Global Head of DC Operations and the Global Engineering team to standardize operations and drive excellence in service through industry best practice.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational leadership

  • Work in partnership with the regional and global teams on the short and long term regional data center plans to manage adequate capacity for current and future expansion, resilience and business continuity
  • Collaborate with leasing, design and construction (D&C), Global DC Operations and Engineering function, Data Center Services (DCS), Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) and other stakeholders to ensure standardization in terms of operational aspects of the DC portfolio
  • Manage the performance of Colo providers and other vendors partners in the supply chain
  • Implement the JP Morgan's standards SOP's across the DC portfolio in-consultation and collaboration with local GRE teams and Colo DC providers
  • In conjunction with GRE and other stakeholders participate in the development of the regional MEP Build Standards, SLA's and KPI's for Data Centers
  • Act as point of escalation for all DC incidents and provide 24x7 on-call support to incident management as required

Data center Management

  • Work in partnership with the DC service providers and the GRE teams to ensure 100% uptime
  • Benchmark and manage the performance of Colo DC providers
  • Capacity and utilization management and forecasting based on business pipeline
  • Technical subject matter expert for complex issues
  • Relationship manager for Colo Operators


  • Oversee and report on statutory compliance and compliance to JP Morgan's global standards.
  • Carry out design, operation and maintenance audits of the DC's to ensure statutory compliance and operational availability of the critical systems/ engineering infrastructure
  • Review engineering design, operation and maintenance documentation inclusive of Training, MOP's, SOP's, EOP's and comment on best practice, value engineering, JPMorgan's OE standards and project delivery
  • Carry out periodic resilience audits, identify gaps and implement recommendations
  • Participate in BCP exercises from time to time

Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong internal client relationships with key clients such as DCS, GTI, Risk and Compliance and various lines of business
  • Work in close collaboration with D&C teams on delivery and transition of various projects across the portfolio
  • Build strategic partnership with various vendors and Colo DC providers

Financial Management

  • Oversee the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Develop business cases for upgrades and new installs and manage the projects through to completions in consultation with various stakeholders
  • Manage capital expenditure and Opex
  • Periodic spend analysis, manage adequate financial controls and provide reports as required


  • A relevant engineering degree (electrical, mechanical or building services)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Data Center Operations
  • Experience within a multi-national preferably within the Banking sector, technology Corporation or the Data Center provider
  • Capable of operating in complex matrix organizations with multiple levels of reporting
  • Familiarity with regional engineering practice and engineering related laws and regulations
  • Experience in project and vendor management
  • Proven executor in the delivery of projects and new initiatives
  • Sensitive to, and capable of managing, all aspects of engineering risk
  • A creative and lateral thinker being open to new ideas and able to adopt and implement change effectively
  • Experience delivering objectives to a remote team and sensitive to cultural differences around the region
  • Team player with high ethical standards and able to manage change and diversity
  • Good all round communication skills in receiving, delivering, and broadcasting information to effectively communicate with both local and international clients and co-workers - proficiency in written and spoken English is essential
