Chief Advancement Officer

Perrett Laver

This is an opportunity to lead the Advancement Office of one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious and well-established international schools, the Hong Kong International School (HKIS). Founded in 1966, HKIS is one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most prestigious international schools, and it continues to set the standard in Asia for an American college-preparatory K-12 education.

Giving plays an important part in the life of HKIS, and the school raises approximately HK$15 million (~US$ 2 million) each year for the Annual Fund, which accounts for 3-5% of the annual operating budget. Moving forward, HKIS is seeking to strengthen and diversify its fundraising efforts. Building upon the Annual Fund, the next Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will oversee the expansion of the School’s fundraising efforts to realize an ambitious capital campaign set to launch in 2020 that will aim to raise HK$40 million (~US$ 5 million) annually over a 5-year period.

HKIS seeks to engage candidates for the CAO role who have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in PR, Marketing, Communications or related fields;
  • 8-10 years of experience in Public Relations and Development related functions, of which a minimum of 3 years should be in management with supervisory responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated track record in fundraising and major capital campaigns;
  • Strong track record of effective leadership, management and team development;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills;
  • Experience in the education sector would be an advantage, particularly in K-12 education.

Hong Kong International School will be supported in this appointment process by the executive search firm Perrett Laver. Applications for the role of Chief Advancement Officer should include the following:

  • CV (maximum 4 pages)
  • Letter of application (1-1.5 pages) with a detailed statement of aspirations and relevance for the position

The deadline for applications is Monday 16th July 2018.

HKIS will review applications as soon as materials are received. HKIS will issue interview invitations on a rolling basis, and finalists will be invited to Hong Kong for final interview in August, with the intention of making a final selection shortly thereafter. Review of applications and nominations will continue until the post is filled.
