We are currently seeking high caliber professionals to join our department as Chief Control Officer

Principal Responsibilities

  • Act as trusted advisor for the senior management of the supported remit area on how to properly manage their operational risk and all items related (Risk assessments, Control testing and environment, issues and incidents management)
  • Enforce robust risk governance ensuring stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity
  • Ensure effective implementation of operational risk management in the first line of defense
  • Ensure compliance of Hang Seng Insurance with Group requirements relating to Business Continuity Plans
  • Oversee all Business Financial Crime Risk programmes including: Global Standards, CDD, AML Sanctions, Tax Evasion
  • Anti Bribery and Corruption; CSEM Customer Management
  • Manage the conduct, risk culture, conflict of interest, market abuse and other regulatory related risks within HSIC
  • Track culture & values KPIs and report to RC and regulators as required
  • Oversee the FATCA and CRS Tax Reporting process for HSIC
  • Conduct reviews of control performance. Facilitate internal control remediation
  • Lead incident escalation process and management, operational loss reporting and tracking
  • Management oversight and direction of the HSIC Chief Control Office, and act as the First Line of Defense on HSIC’s risk and control matters, including business stands, and business control and risk management, with the goal of strengthening the Insurance First Line of Defense.
  • Act as the Risk Advisor and ensure adequate control within the Insurance Business – including but limited to Business Continuity Planning, Vendor Risk Management, Information Security etc
  • Work beyond the boundaries of usual time and effort in meeting these expectations, creatively and innovatively in often addressing uniquely individual challenges in insurance operations working environment;
  • Possess the operational expertise and experience in related to insurance operations



  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or relevant subjects
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in risk management or internal audit in the field of insurance 
  • Minimum of 8 years’ managerial or supervisory experience 
  • Be a self-motivated, pro-active self-starter with the ability and attributes to act and perform with minimal direction or instruction; 
  • Be a natural leader and motivator; someone the rest of the team and any subordinates trust and respect
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills 
  • Proficiency in both English and Chinese
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
