The APAC CIB Chief Data Office (CDO) is a business centric team, part of the wider Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) Chief Data & Analytics Office ('CDAO') and is responsible for the execution of the data management strategy, ensuring data policies, governance and standards are applied consistently across LOB, legal entities and countries. Reporting to the Head of successful candidate will assume responsibility for CIB Data Privacy agenda for the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

The APAC Chief Data Office is a new team and as such is looking for a candidate to support the build out of the function. The individual will lead the CIB Data Privacy team and responsible for executing the Privacy agenda for the CIB.

Typical responsibilities include:

Regulatory and Audit
 

  • Execution of Asia Pacific Privacy agenda focusing on policy implementation, regulatory change and risk minimization
  • Partner with Privacy Compliance, Business Control Managers and Location Control Managers to implement privacy policy changes across the countries and impacted lines of business; ensuring privacy procedures are developed and maintained that translate requirements from the Global Privacy Policy Framework and other relevant Compliance-owned Privacy Policies and Standards into 1LOD operational procedures.
  • Develop a deep understanding of regional privacy legislation, internal privacy and confidentiality policies and their application to the business
  • Provide support to Compliance, Risk and Audit during planned testing; ensure any raised issues and action plans are closed in a timely manner.

Privacy Forums and other Governance


  • Lead and/or participate in committees, forums or other meetings to disseminate information to key stakeholders in the 1LOD and 2LOD regarding privacy related matters such as risks, issues, privacy incidents, complaints, regulatory developments and initiatives.
  • Provide materials and active participation in privacy committees, forums, working groups
  • Publish metrics and reporting to monitor and manage Data Privacy
  • Escalate Privacy issues to more senior levels when appropriate

Training and Awareness


  • Identify opportunities to raise privacy awareness and education via Business Control Committees, Regional and Location Operating Committees. Partner with 2LOD to develop content.

Issues and Action Plan Management


  • If control weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the risk and control environment are identified, LOB's must document the issue and define a timeframe for resolution, as required by the CORE standard. Privacy to partner with Control Managers to monitor privacy risk aligned issues in CORE; engages relevant LOB/ Region Issue and Action Plan owners to address concerns regarding resolution

Qualifications
 

  • BS/BA Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services industry with potential background in Compliance, controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation
  • Understanding of Privacy Regulation a plus
  • The candidate must be a self-motivated leader with the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Experience leading high profile programs and / or teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and other senior stakeholders, including influencing at this level of seniority to support the goals of the business.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and communication skills, including use of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Effective influencing and persuasion skills with groups outside of core team; ability to build consensus at a senior level.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to direct and lead others, directly and indirectly, locally, and globally.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to own tasks under aggressive targets and effectively adapt and reprioritise to changes in plan.
