The Role:

Platform Sales - Securities Services F&BM is seeking an Associate, based in Hong Kong, to support North Asia & Southeast Asia Securities Services Sales businesses, driving strategic analysis, process improvement, financial analysis and controls as well as the support of Sales technology tools. As part of the APAC Platform Sales Business Management team, the successful candidate will partner closely with other BMs across Global Platform Sales and the Sales & Marketing franchise. They will work closely with other functions including Product, Finance, Operations, Compliance and HR to deliver upon the requirements of the business. The role will involve significant exposure to the front office and extensive interaction with senior management, including direct support of the Sales Business Heads of North Asia and Southeast Asia teams and their immediate directs. This role will report to the lead BM for APAC Securities Services Sales, also based in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving Business Growth and Strategy
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Business Heads. Provide management assistance, for instance by convening business reviews and management meetings
  • Drive competitive analysis and reporting
  • Ensure implementation of business strategies and help drive change
  • Ensure delivery of business initiatives and projects - provide overall governance across multiple initiatives
  • Escalate issues and roadblocks
  • Provide analytics for business decisions
  • Support & enhancement of all Sales technology tools

Optimize Business Performance

  • Annual Plan/ Budget process
  • Regular expense reviews to ensure targets are met
  • Investment / productivity initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with expense policies

Manage Business Risks

  • Assist with regulatory reform issues that impact the business
  • Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business

MIS/ Governance:

  • Assist in governance forums (Management Committees, Operating Committees and Business Control Committees)
  • Compile monthly Business reviews - tracking performance against budget
  • Analyze and report on client, segment, region, and product profitability
  • Generate key performance indicators

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Finance or Business Management function preferred
  • Work experience in Markets or Platform Sales preferred
  • Understanding of front-to-back trade / booking flows and best practices
  • Understanding of sales processes and the client/investor landscape
  • Understanding of legal, compliance and regulatory requirements for financial institutions
  • Strong Financial background (PnL Construct, Balance Sheet, RWA, Leverage etc) preferred

Core Skills Required

  • Strategic with good business acumen
  • Self-motivated, tenacious and able to work with a high degree of independence
  • Excellent communication skills with strong English fluency (written and spoken)
  • Structured and organized; strong project management skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to analyse the details while not sacrificing the overall business big picture
  • Ability to identify and implement best-practice processes and solutions
  • Ability to forge strong internal relationships across a broad range of functions
  • High ethical standards and strong control mindset
