About Asia Sales & Marketing Business Management

Asia Sales & Marketing Business Management function sits within Finance & Business Management (F&BM) of the Corporate & Investment Bank. Business managers are responsible for supporting the business heads from an end-to-end perspective, helping business heads to drive the business agenda across financials, client coverage, risk & control (including regulatory), people and partnership. Business managers have significant exposure & interactions with senior management and are required to have a thorough understanding of the business & regulatory landscape, equipped with strategic, financial and project coordination skills.

Role description:

The candidate will be part of the Markets Sales Business Management team supporting the AsiaEx Macro & Spread Sales Franchises, to deliver the business agenda. This includes identifying client opportunities, tracking performance and driving product / platform enhancement in partnership with Sales, Trading, BMs and other functions such Technology, Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance. In addition to providing support to Macro & Spread sales teams across Asia Ex Franchise, the successful candidate will also gain exposure to the broader APAC Sales business through driving cross-LOB projects for the APAC Sales & Marketing BM team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Sales Heads with strategy planning and execution for the sales franchise
  • Act as trusted advisor and counterweight to Business Heads and their management team, and facilitate franchise business reviews, track performance updates and oversee expense controls
  • Lead, develop and implement key business initiatives through cross-function partnerships
  • Initiate, lead, design and review business performance scorecards and related MIS
  • Perform data analysis to help business identify key revenue gaps, trends and business opportunities
  • Implementation & coordination of regulatory and control agenda e.g. Dodd Frank, QFC, MiFID II, etc.
  • Oversight of structured transactions, complete internal due diligence when required with signoffs from all relevant functions
  • Manage business risks and support the control environment - Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business across the multiple countries the franchise spans
  • Optimize business performance and planning - Lead annual business budget process (in conjunction with Planning and Analysis Team)
  • Engage with trading, sales, product, technology, operations, legal and compliance regularly to provide connectivity and cohesiveness across the region.
  • Drive cross-LOB projects for the broader Asia Sales business across Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities and Investor Services
  • Any other day to day sales issues.


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related business function: Business Management (Sales, Banking or Trading), Middle Office, Technology or COO functions.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate initiatives and issues well
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Problem-solver, goal-oriented
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills to be able to deliver within various deadlines across different time zones
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgment with the ability to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  • Mature, highly motivated, energetic self-starter who takes ownership and is able to work independently
  • Flexible and responsive to requests from fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable engaging very senior stakeholders in the firm on business-related topics
  • Strong team player - Culturally sensitive with the ability to work effectively among different countries and regions.
  • Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills - Ability to work with various data sets is beneficial
  • Product knowledge of FX, Commodities, Credit and Rates is beneficial.
  • Language skills in Mandarin will be a plus (verbal and/ or written).
