Asia Finance & Business Management is seeking a junior Business Manager based in Hong Kong to help support the Securities Prime Brokerage & Equity Finance ("Prime Finance") business.

Prime Finance is a 'portal' relationship, active as a strategic link between the firm's hedge fund client base and the diverse businesses within J.P. Morgan. J.P. Morgan Prime Finance offers a broad set of conventional and synthetic financing products, a global securities lending platform that enables clients to fund positions and facilitate short sales, clearing and settlement, and a suite of value added services such as Capital Introduction and Consulting.

The Business Manager works across the organization to provide support to senior leadership, and is critical for driving strategic analysis, process improvement, financial analysis and controls.

This is a regional role that sits within the CIB Markets Finance & Business Management organization under the leadership of Global Prime Finance Business Manager.


Responsibilities for the Asia Prime Business Manager role include:

1. Drive Growth and Strategy.
  • Assist with implementation of business strategies and help drive change
  • Run governance forums
  • Track progress to ensure delivery
  • Escalate issues and roadblocks
  • Provide analytics for business decisions
  • Assist with competitive benchmarking & market analysis
  • Communicate business strategy, performance and priorities (e.g. Town Halls, Offsites, Business Reviews, Investor Day)
2. Optimize Business Performance.
  • Assist with annual Plan / Budget process
  • Drive regular expense reviews to ensure targets are met
  • Assist in investment / productivity initiatives (headcount, technology spend, etc)
  • Ensure compliance with expense policies
  • Oversee occupancy and people moves
3. Manage Business Risks.
  • Assist with regulatory reform issues that impact the business
  • Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business:
    • NBIA (New Business Initiatives)
    • Resiliency planning
    • Audit and Regulatory reviews
  • 3-5 years work experience in financial services
  • Business Management / COO experience
  • Prime Brokerage background and knowledge strongly preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Good judgment, maturity and poise to enable interaction/influencing of senior management
  • Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Self starter able to prioritize key tasks effectively
  • Disciplined approach to managing processes and controls
  • Energetic, self motivated and effective under pressure - must enjoy the challenge of working within a fast-paced, high pressure and demanding working environment
