Role Summary
The Office of Legal Obligation (OLO) program is a firm-wide, global initiative that brings together the expertise of Legal, Lines of Business (LoBs), Oversight & Control, Compliance, Risk and other key control functions, to proactively manage regulatory changes in our operations and allow us to trace end-to-end connections between laws, rules and regulations on the one hand, and our policies and procedures that demonstrate compliance on the other.

The role is within the Markets Trading OLO mapping execution team. The successful applicant will be working within the Markets APAC Trading OLO team, determining the applicability of individual regulations to the Markets APAC Trading businesses in APAC, and subsequently mapping these legal obligations and the full underlying legal text to procedures or other supporting documentation. This will involve working extensively with Legal, Functional groups and business stakeholders.

As a regional work stream lead, you will be responsible for leading and executing this work for Markets Trading across Asia Pacific, working in conjunction with the global project lead to drive the efficient and accurate mapping of obligations, while minimizing the impact on LoB SMEs. The role will provide considerable exposure to both functional partners and the Markets Trading businesses. You will also work closely with the APAC Markets Trading OLO team, achieving synergies in mapping activities across Markets Trading.

This role reports functionally to the Asia Markets Trading OLO lead. As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for:

Mapping Execution
  • Execution of mapping of obligations to required supporting documentation, and overseeing this same work for your direct report(s)
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on OLO processes and tools Collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Business partners and CIB OLO to ensure a clear and consistent interpretation of applicable obligations
  • Compiling procedure gap analysis data for communication to procedure work stream
  • Responding to and resolving items identified by Quality Assurance and audit processes
Program Management
  • Escalation point to assist with the resolution of issues and risks for APAC Markets OLO team
  • Track and resolve items that impact project goals and timelines
Qualifications:
  • Strong working knowledge of J.P. Morgan’s Markets products and businesses in APAC, gained through a role supporting a Trading business.
  • Significant experience in business controls, operational risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit or similar function with coverage of Markets Trading businesses.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to instill structure, process and accountability to meet aggressive weekly production delivery targets, whilst maintaining quality standards.
  • Experience with the use of process improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma would be beneficial.
  • Detail oriented, with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control.
  • Excellent personnel and organizational management skills
  • Ability to partner closely with related functions to ensure a coordinated and effective program
  • Outstanding listening and negotiation skills, as well as being a strong written and verbal communicator at the senior management level.
