Role Summary
The Office of Legal Obligation (OLO) program is a firm-wide, global initiative that brings together the expertise of Legal, Lines of Business (LoBs), Oversight & Control, Compliance, Risk and other key control functions, to proactively manage regulatory changes in our operations and allow us to trace end-to-end connections between laws, rules and regulations on the one hand, and our policies and procedures that demonstrate compliance on the other.
 
The role is within the Markets & Investor Services Sales (‘M&IS Sales’) OLO mapping execution team. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the M&IS APAC Sales OLO team, determining the applicability of individual regulations to the M&IS Sales businesses in APAC, and subsequently mapping these legal obligations to procedures or other supporting documentation. This will involve working extensively with Legal, Functional groups and business stakeholders.
 
As a regional work stream lead, you will be responsible for leading and executing this work for M&IS Sales across Asia Pacific, working in conjunction with the global project lead to drive the efficient and accurate mapping of obligations. The role will provide considerable exposure to both functional partners and the M&IS Sales businesses. You will also work closely with the APAC Markets Trading OLO team, achieving synergies in mapping activities across Markets Sales and Trading.
This role reports functionally to the global Markets & Investor Services Sales OLO project lead. As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for:
 
Mapping Execution
  • Execution of mapping of obligations to required supporting documentation, and overseeing this same work for your direct report(s)
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on OLO processes and tools
  • Collaborating with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Business partners and CIB OLO to ensure a clear and consistent interpretation of applicable obligations
Program Management
  • In conjunction with the M&IS Sales project lead, develop capacity and resource plans, run-rate forecasts and actual completion metrics for APAC region
  • Escalation point to assist with the resolution of issues and risks for APAC Markets OLO team
  • Strong working knowledge of Markets products and front office businesses in Asia Pacific, gained through a role supporting a Sales or Trading business at a firm of similar size and scale to J.P. Morgan
  • Significant experience in business controls, operational risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit or similar function with coverage of Markets Sales / Trading businesses.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to instill structure, process and accountability to meet aggressive weekly production delivery targets, whilst maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to motivate and gain consensus among staff to drive initiatives to completion
  • Proven team management and leadership capabilities (team size 2 – 8 direct reports)
  • Experience with the use of process improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma would be beneficial.
  • Detail oriented, with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control.
  • Strong business analysis skills to enable efficient, accurate and objective decision making
  • Excellent personnel and organizational management skills, including expertise in issue and conflict resolution
  • Ability to partner closely with related functions to ensure a coordinated and effective program
  • Outstanding listening and negotiation skills, as well as being a strong written and verbal communicator at the senior management level.
