About the Role

  • Overall responsibility for setting strategy on the EC claims that are litigated either under the EC ordinance or under Common law and managing them to successful settlements
  • Work in close collaboration with the claims team of clients & Third Party Administrators (TPA) for the EC Construction portfolio.
  • Manage additional support as required, e.g. defence solicitors, loss adjusters, healthcare services, external experts, etc
  • Monitor & drive performance of selected panel of defence solicitors.
  • Settle litigated claims by giving mandates to Defence Solicitors or by direct negotiation with Plaintiff solicitors within the settlement authority provided. Responsible for timely follow up with the solicitors for progressing the litigated claims to settlement.
  • Handle claim escalation approvals from TPA and other team members.

About the team

  • The team specialises in managing Employee's Compensation (EC) claims by collaborating with the claims team of clients & Third Party Administrators. This team is part of the larger claims team which has team members in 5 locations in Asia.

About You

  • Experience of at least 5-8 years of handling Employers Compensation class of claims.
  • Sound knowledge of standard insurance policy wordings, statutory provisions regarding Employers Compensation Legislation in Hong Kong is required.
  • University or preferably master degree in Law. Preference will be given to those with an additional insurance qualification of ACII or ANZIIF or equivalent.
  • Articulate and be able to present well in client meetings. Ability to be persuasive in business discussions and negotiations.
  • Open-minded to diverse culture background and challenges. Cantonese Language skills are required
  • Proactive & Self learner. Be independent in carrying out the required tasks.
  • A team player.
