We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as aClimate Strategic Planning and Stress Testing Manager – Global Finance- Global Finance.

Principal Responsibilities​

  • This role is predominantly dedicated to managing Climate Risk Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis, but will also support other Strategic Planning and Stress Testing activities when required.

  • The role is critical to the success of HSBC’s vision of becoming the leading bank for transition to a net zero economy. It would sit within the Strategic Planning & Stress Testing team which is situated within the Finance function. The team within which this role sits will be responsible for executing internal and external climate-related stress tests and supporting external disclosures.

  • The job holder will be running the climate change scenarios and providing insights for a senior audience based on outcomes of climate change capital and stress testing analyses.

  • Work in partnership with senior management across the Group and will be supporting commercial, capital and strategic decisions and regulatory interactions. While the climate stress testing and scenario analysis team will not be engaging in risk management, it will be a critical conduit to linking stress testing analysis to the Risk function

  • Execute climate stress testing and scenario analysis to generate strategic insights to support decision making around strategic planning, risk management and business opportunities identification.

  • Support the preparation of insightful commentary to Risk, Business, senior management, Regulators such as HKMA and PRA and other relevant stakeholders

  • Where necessary contribute to further development of climate change stress testing and scenario analyses capabilities such as enhance existing models and support climate scenario expansion

  • Establish strong, effective and collaborative working relationships within the team and with other stakeholders across Finance, Risk and Business Manage the consolidation and review of Climate Risk data.


  • 5-10 years’ experience in Finance or Risk-related field.

  • Experience in climate stress testing and scenario analysis, climate risk management, ESG risk management or sustainable finance preferable

  • Experience in managing large scale projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Expertise in developing and institutionalising financial analysis and MI by using tools such as Microsoft Excel

  • Exhibit expert ability to drive understanding of analysis throughout business/regional operating management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
