Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.


Objectives of the Position

Reporting to Senior Vice President, Care Chemicals Asia Pacific, you will:

  • Develop and drive strategic communication plans to support the sustainable ambitious growth, and manage the outcomes and quality of the unit
  • As the principal Communications contact of the Business Unit, with close coordination with Regional Corporate Affairs and Global Communications


Job Responsibilities

  • Provide professional advices and support Unit Head and Management Team on all communication related topics including crisis communications

  • Manage communications budget and govern the standard of implementation across Asia Pacific to achieve quality and cost efficiency

  • Based on product, sustainability customer interaction strategies, plan the corresponding marketing communications for the Care Chemicals unit

  • Implement marketing communications activities such as promotions, customer event such as fairs, exhibitions and plant openings, as well as materials such as product advertising and other online communications including social media

  • Develop consistent product branding strategy in the region, and continue to exploit branding opportunities in a systematic manner

  • Ensure good coverage of Care Chemicals topic in trade media and uphold one voice policy, develop press release and screen publications; maintain good relationship with media, as well as journalist

  • Assist the development of engagement programs to nurture business advocacy and customer intimacy with industry associations, NGOs by conferences, summit etc.

  • Develop employee engagement programs to align expectation, motivate positive acceptance to change, promote sense of belonging



  • Bachelor degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline. Master degree is preferred.

  • At least 12 years’ relevant experience in PR, advertising, branding, social media or corporate communications

  • Candidate with regional Asia Pacific exposure will be of top priority

  • Candidate with good vendor connections is preferred

  • Able to collaborate and network within matrix and intercultural teams

  • Self-motivated, mature, and able to work independently as well as in a team

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Mandarin/Cantonese
