Contract Research Analyst (6-12 months fixed term - Entry level)

The alternative schedule Contract Research Analyst will play a specialized role in aiding real-time public relations communications efforts. In addition to channeling media inquiries for client teams, the Alt Schedule ARAs will be trained and expected to support on secondary research assignments, such as media monitoring, measurement, and analysis. Both media inquiry and media monitoring responsibilities help our clients, many of whom are Fortune 500 corporations, to develop better communications and business strategies. This entry-level contract position introduces employees to the market research industry, media analysis techniques, and a variety of public relations measurement methodologies.

 

Because of the real-time nature of the media inquiries work stream, work hours for this full-time position will require a rotation that includes certain weekend and holiday hours (hence the “alternative schedule"). Responsibilities:

  •  Work directly with high-profile client’s PR communications team to organize and channel media inquiries and collaborate with internal team to address any client requests related to media inquiries (will take up about 50-60% of the working time)
  • Support additional secondary research efforts (remaining working time) including the following:
    • On a tight timeline, search a combination of free and subscription-based databases to identify and consolidate media content that is relevant to specific clients and projects
    • Prioritize and organize media content into monitoring reports using both third-party and proprietary software
    • Analyze news and social media coverage for metrics, such as tone (favorability), influencers, spokespeople, messages communicated, outlet type, and topic
    • Support in the production of charts (quantitative analysis), written insights (qualitative analysis), and other aspects of client deliverables
    • Assist project teams with general desk research
    • Assist with the set up and configuration of our proprietary online media monitoring tool for clients (training provided)

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

 

  • Candidate must be flexible to work on a rotation schedule and must be open to work on weekends and public holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree in or pursuing liberal arts, communications, marketing, business, psychology, economics, or related area of study
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research and analysis
  • Ability to learn and master new concepts quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to use online tools to perform online desk research
  • Excellent reading, writing, editing, and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English is a must, fluency in mandarin is a plus
  • Great interpersonal communication skills; articulates ideas clearly and professionally, both in person, in writing, and over the phone
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure; able to consistently meet deadlines on reports and projects
