Job summary

As Legal Assistant, you’ll support the Legal Counsels within the General Counsel's Office (GCO), by performing a wide variety of legal research, preparing documents, and provide necessary assistance to the Legal Counsels. You’ll provide legal analysis of important issues affecting the industry and/or the organization. These Issues can be related to industry trends, changes in legislature or cases that are being worked on. 

In this role, you’ll receive regular direction from the appropriate Legal Counsel. Your work is assigned by the Legal Counsels. You won’t supervise others.


  • Perform legal research, utilizing a variety of legal resources, including electronic resources as well as more traditional sources??
  • Analyze current and proposed legislation on matters important to Ernst & Young. These could include regulations of the accounting profession, privilege issues, scope of potential liability auditor/accountant independence, etc.
  • Help Legal Counsels prepare articles/materials for presentation, by researching current law
  • Help organizing signing of internal documents
  • Assist Legal Counsels on handling company secretarial work
  • Assist Legal Counsels on handling insurance claims

Knowledge and skills requirements

  • Proficient in electronic legal research
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of HK law and the HK legal system
  • Strong legal writing ability, as well as strong verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience on company secretarial work
  • Familiarity with legal analysis
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office


  • 4-5 years’ experience working as paralegal


  • BA/BS degree, law school degree preferred.
