The J.P. Morgan Chase Audit Department is accountable to the Audit and Examining Committee of the Board of Directors, the Office of the Chairman, senior management and our global and local regulators. The global Audit Department has in excess of 500 auditors, based globally in all regions.

The Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Audit Team is mainly responsible for assessing the adequacy of the control environments across all of the CIB businesses. The CIB Audit Team also assesses the control environment of the Chief Investment Office (CIO) and Treasury functions within the CIO, Treasury and Corporate (CTC) business as well. This is achieved through a program of audit coverage which is performed and managed by a global team of integrated technology and financial business specialists.

The Asia audit team is based in multiple locations in Asia Pacific where J.P. Morgan operates and the CIB is the largest operating line of business in the Asia region.

Position Description:

The Audit Manager (VP) position is based in Hong Kong within the Asia CIB Markets Audit Team. The role will be primarily responsible for coverage of CIB Markets function in the region (i.e. Sales and Marketing, Front office trading, Product Control or Market and Credit Risk).

The role provides the opportunity to develop a detailed understanding of the CIB businesses, as well as working with stakeholders and audit colleagues in the regional and global Audit teams in developing a strong control environment. The individual will be responsible for maintaining relationships with and providing control related advice to business stakeholders as well as planning, execution and documentation of the results of their work for audits conducted.

The applicant must be a mature and experienced professional who possesses strong auditing skills, knowledge of the investment banking industry, financial instruments and trading products, asset and liability allocation and understanding of diverse internal control systems within a financial institution. This includes a working knowledge of investment bank business activities, and practical experience dealing with risk management principles and controls. This individual should be a strong team player, able to multi-task, demonstrate project management skills and work under pressure in a dynamic business environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a motivated individual who can implement an audit program of coverage which involves effective risk assessment and design of a risk prioritized coverage approach.
  • Lead, plan, execute and document audits with limited supervision and to a high standard in accordance with department and professional standards and ensure audits are completed timely and within allocated budget.
  • Identify risks and prioritize audit work as part of a risk based audit program in close partnership with the wider audit team
  • Partner with colleagues, clients and control community members to evaluate, test and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment. Analyze risks and proactively identify the root-cause of issues with a view to providing recommendations for improvement where weaknesses are identified.
  • Proactively communicate audit results and audit findings in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, and use judgment to provide an overall opinion on the control environment.
  • Implement and execute an effective program of continuous auditing for assigned areas. This includes monitoring of key metrics to identify control issues and adverse trends in the control environment and keeping abreast of key initiatives and pertinent industry and regulatory developments
  • Identify and follow up on specific audit issues and ensure appropriate involvement with significant development efforts or projects. In this capacity members of the team are often asked to join the control forums to present audit findings.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders and colleagues, establishing a culture of engagement while adding value.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline and/or other relevant professional qualifications, eg CIA, ACA, CPA, CAMS etc.
  • Minimum 8 years audit or relevant business experience within a financial services organization, major accounting firm or regulatory body
  • Good understanding of internal control concepts
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take personal responsibility/ accountability
  • Works well individually and in teams, shares information and supports colleagues
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication (i.e., verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management and influence change
  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamically changing work environments, including travel (upto 20%) where necessary
