Job brief

We are currently seeking a thorough and insightful Cost Control Clerk to assist his/her supervisor to oversee cost management for our projects.  You track, analyze and control the costs associated with a project, such as large-scale construction projects where there are multiple subcontractors, inspectors and suppliers who all need paying. Day-to-day, you have to forecast expenditures, plan budgets, classify costs by type, track man-hours allocated to a project, verifying supplier invoices and managing change events that impact the budget.  To succeed in this position, you have to perform data entry and clerical duties, you will also demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising quality.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data entry, clerical duties and assisting supervisor in preparation of the project objective, monthly cost control report and budget forecast
  • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded
  • Assists in project costing related reporting to the team and management’s review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget
  • Provide cost control and planning advice to project team as and when required
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required
  • Occasionally work in site office

 

Requirements

  • Diploma or above in relevant disciplines, preferably with accounting
  • We are looking for fresh graduates or candidates with not more than 2 years of relevant or accounting experience
  • Strong analytical and numerical sense; proficiency in MS Excel
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and meticulous
  • Fast learner with ability to work well under stress
  • Prior experience with SAP will be an advantage but not a must
