As a Database Engineer in a global DBA team, the job will mainly monitor and support APAC business, and be working cohesively as a member of a Global Database Support team with follow-the-sun model. Actively be involved in deployment, design, build and support of Infrastructure databases that run on Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB databases globally.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in a similar role, preferably from the financial services / banking industry.

Responsibilities

  • Oracle & MS SQL Server DBA, minimum 8 years of experience who will design, develop, implement, enhance, and support database systems in support of business goals
  • Position involves all aspects of database administration: installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery skills
  • Tune databases for performance and monitor database performance trends.
  • Coordinate with other global teams in planning & supporting maintenance windows and provide technical support
  • Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from Managers
  • Assume ownership of databases related problems; pursue short- and long-term problem resolution, drive root cause analysis (RCA) and risk management processes
  • Reviewing and tuning databases for optimal system performance including modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilise system resources
  • Weekend and off-hour call support as necessary

Required Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot database performance problems independently with Oracle Supplied tools
  • Knowledge of configuring, patching, upgrading Oracle Enterprise Manager for database monitoring
  • Experience in working Oracle 11g, 12c, SQL Server 2012, 2016, 2017
  • Proactively maintain Oracle RAC databases with Active Dataguard configuration
  • Experience in administering RDBMS Oracle and MS-SQL Server databases in a Production environment
  • Knowledge of Oracle TDE, SQL Server Encryption or Datamasking a plus
  • Strong understanding of SQL development (PL/SQL, Stored Procedures)
  • Must have experience with Oracle RMAN, ASM Data Guard, RAC, performance tuning and OEM
  • Experience in supporting Microsoft SQL Mirroring/Always On, HA/DR options
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server performance monitoring tools
  • Thorough knowledge of MS SQL Server Backup/Recovery process
  • Experience in Schema Design, Query Tuning, database tuning and Optimisation on both Oracle & MS SQL Server
  • Extensive experience in database upgrades, patching, migrating Very Large Databases
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting and managing a large number of complex multi-server, multi-vendor, multi-technology infrastructures
  • Experience with Incident Management, Root Cause Analysis and Change Control Processes for Production deployments
  • MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB experiences are big plus

Required Unix Skills

  • Experience in supporting databases on activities on Unix/Linux flavours in an enterprise environment
  • Strong Understanding on Unix/Linux operating systems and familiar to standard O/S tools
  • Clear understanding on Unix/Linux configuration for database specific environments
  • Familiarity to underlying infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimisation
  • Experience in Shell Scripting – Ksh, bash

Desired

  • Scripting skills (Python, Perl)
  • Experience in MySQL/MariaDB & MongoDB
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS / Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark or other distributed data processing system
  • Oracle OCM, Microsoft SQL Server Certification (MCSA, MCSE) or equivalent
