Overall purpose of role

To cover various key Chinese corporates in the Industrials sector to originate M&A, DCM, ECM and RSG transactions. In addition to marketing and deal origination the person may also lead deal executions as the day-to-day project captain.


The role requires a very strong and experienced candidate with proven expertise in advisory, origination and execution of M&A, DCM and ECM transactions.


Key specific accountabilities

  • Advises, recommends, originates or executes profitable client transactions, aiming to achieve 5 top positions with targeted priority clients
  • Developing into an active contributor to the overall financial performance of M&A and Financing
  • Leveraging existing embedded relationship with Chinese clients in our focused sectors
  • Contributing towards optimization of client product revenue of the specific units/subsidiaries of the client he/she covers
  • Cultivate trusted advisor relationships with CEOs, CFOs and members of the Board of Directors of priority financial institutions clients, predominantly in Onshore China


Stakeholder management and leadership

  • Builds relationships with C-suite level clients; develops a thorough knowledge of the client’s management, long and medium term strategy, key business areas and financial situation
  • Uses this knowledge to identify, assess, promote and maximise business opportunities, using and focusing on the full range of profitable products from the different business areas. At the same time clearly adds value to the client’s market positioning or medium term development
  • Provides the access needed for our Global client base and connect with various stakeholders in the global network
  • Help foster a team-oriented and collaborative working environment


Decision making and problem solving

  • Consistent and proactive marketing in order to create customised value-add solutions, using the full breadth of the bank’s products and services (cross-selling).
  • Supports the Senior Managing Directors in leading and setting direction in the M&A services provided to the client. Leverages internal resources in order to achieve this.
  • Acts in compliance with the corporate values and the business principles of Barclays


Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards


Person Specification

  • Strong track record and knowledge in Investment Banking
  • Strong sector knowledge across a spectrum of sub-sectors in Industrials and proven client relationship skills within the sector at senior management levels
  • Extensive transaction experience and product knowledge to deliver M&A, financing and risk management opportunities to the business
  • Proven origination capability
  • Full knowledge of compliance, business principles and corporate values, key applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English and Mandarin


Regulated Role

This role will require the role holder to hold mandatory registrations with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA)
