An exciting, permanent brand new opportunity exists to lead the emerging technologies learning requirements for Telstra. This includes, but is not limited to; the evolution of Telstra’s engineering, networks and IT workforces and the capability we need to develop to ensure Telstra becomes a world class technology company.

Develop and execute on the emerging technology learning plan including invest meting; ensuring prioritisation of this investment and where resources are aligned to our core strategy

Create and drive the annual and quarterly capability planning process to produce an accurate and pragmatic plan

Working knowledge of technologies that are core to our future and the ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate these into the most appropriate learning interventions to increase capability

Work to drive a Learning culture across Telstra – with transparency about the Learning opportunities available to them to deepen and broaden the businesses capability and careers

Ultimately accountable for the resolution of Learning and capability issues raised in the relevant technical learning business units

Manage adhoc requests and align to the learning plan and iterate as required with HR and business to ensure relevancy and timeliness

Macro management the development and implementation of appropriate initiatives and programs to achieve the business strategies

Work with the key stakeholders to identify the need for technical learning content creation or curation – and then work into the rest of the Learning team to execute on this


Leading a technical learning team or function on scale; in a tech company with a large workforce, requiring significant transformation

An understanding of and experience in Learning and development with experience in uplifting technical skill capability

Deep understanding of how to translate technical requirements into an actionable strategy

Domain expertise in emerging technologies, such as SDN/NFV which may include: CICD; Programming; automation, NAaS, Agile, Dev Ops, APIs
