Major Responsibilities

  • Establish cost estimate targets during design and development 
  • Work closely with external (customers) and internal stakeholders, including Business Unit, Engineering, Procurement, and Program Management, for customer’s requirements, product/engineering specification and duration of the project in order to identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses
  • Evaluate and recommend ways to improve the cost-effectiveness or profitability of a product/solution by investigating and identifying cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review
  • Identify and develop the RFQ process involving specifications of items/services or solutions to make sure all the suppliers are bidding on the same item/service
  • Evaluate both commercial terms and technical terms, including but not limited to the payment term, quality level per item and contract length of comparable suppliers for competitive bids
  • Set up a structured evaluation and selection procedure/system to mitigate frauds and associated risks as well as demonstrate impartiality and transparent in awarding the winner 
  • Contribute to cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures and monitor trends
  • Support all activities in cost estimation and take a proactive approach towards improvements


  • Degree in Engineering with specialization in Project Management or Cost Control related training
  • Some relevant experience of cost estimating in electronic manufacturing industry
  • Able to show evidence of adding value and cost optimization
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic design and manufacturing processes and components and ability to evaluate and analyze associated costs
  • Good IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills
  • Ideally experienced in the use of spreadsheets, estimating pricing models and cost management tools
  • Good communication skills with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
  • Highly numerate with the ability to research, assemble, manage, and manipulate numerical information
  • Result-oriented and organized with the ability to deliver against deadlines
