Enrich Board Position Description

Enrich is Hong Kong’s premier training organisation for financial literacy, entrepreneurship and

communications for migrants. Enrich’s mission is to empower migrant domestic workers in Hong

Kong, regardless of nationality or background, to transform their lives through financial education

and personal development programmes. We envisage a world in which migrant domestic workers in

Hong Kong are empowered and financially capable, achieving their life goas and creating positive

long-term impact for themselves, their families and their communities.

A. Job Description

Enrich is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join the Board of Directors. Enrich’s Board

of Directors is the organisations’ governing body. Directors are responsible for the overall

governance and strategic direction of the organisation and for ensuring that the organisation is

solvent, well-run and delivers against its strategic objectives.

Directors are expected to attend and actively contribute to four Board meetings (quarterly) and sit

on at least one Board sub-committee. They are also expected to attend any other special event as

appropriate. Directors will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment at the end of

the term.

B. Specific Roles and Responsibilities

Strategy and Performance

  • Promote the vision, mission and values of Enrich
  • Set strategic direction and Board goals for continued growth and development
  • Approve strategic and annual plans and performance targets
  • Oversee organisational monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Ensure that operations are effective, efficient, sustainable and empowering for Enrich’s clients
  • Ensure that the experiences of Enrich’s client base and its staff and trainers as frontline agents of change are being listened to, respected and incorporated into Enrich’s strategy
  • Ensure the personal growth opportunities of Enrich’s clients, trainers and staff, especially those that best represent migrants Governance, Oversight and Risk Management
  • Adopt and regularly review Enrich’s mission and vision statement
  • Ensure operations are carried out based on ethical standards, consistent with Enrich’s values and within a socially responsible framework
  • Ensure the integrity of financial information with accountability to all stakeholders, that appropriate financial accounts are kept and approve the organisation’s annual report and accounts
  • Ensure the organisation is solvent and that robust financial controls and systems of risk management are in place
  • Ensure that Enrich remains accountable to its client base External Relations
  • Publicly support and promote Enrich at high profile and/or fundraising events
  • Advocate on behalf of Enrich to generate awareness about financial literacy of migrant women and related issues
  • Promote the Enrich in his/her circle of influence, and to make concerted efforts to bring resources, opportunities and funding to Enrich
  • Support Enrich’s client base and those closest to them to represent Enrich as far as possible Ensure Effective Leadership
  • Oversee the performance of the Executive Director (ED)
  • Participate in recruitment and orientation of the ED as required
  • Contribute to Board self-assessment and improvement Policy Development
  • Ensure the development and adherence of sound policies across the organisation
  • Develop governing policies that reflect our values and the perspectives and interests of the communities we serve Other
  • Attend, prepare for and actively participate in all meetings of the Board, Board sub-committee meetings as appropriate and special events
  • Actively participate in at least one Board sub-committee
  • Take on rotating Chair position if required.

C. Desired Skills and Expertise

Enrich is seeking to recruit individuals to serve on the Board of Directors who demonstrate the

following characteristics:

  • Understanding of and strong commitment towards Enrich’s vision, mission and values
  • Willingness and ability to actively contribute to the success of the organisation
  • Ability to guide Enrich in a demonstrated area of expertise determined as critical for organisational development and success
  • Ability to execute Board responsibilities in an active and professional manner We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:
  • Fundraising and Marketing
  • Financial oversight
  • Migrant worker issues
