The Role

  • Answering public enquiries under the discrimination legislation in the capacity of duty officer
  • Investigating into complaints lodged under the discrimination legislation and making recommendations on basis of information gathered
  • Conducting conciliation to resolve disputes related to discrimination complaints
  • Handling EOC self-initiated investigation on potential/possible unlawful acts of discrimination that come to notice of the EOC
  • Participating and/or supporting senior officers in intra and inter-divisional projects and task groups
  • Undertaking any other duties as assigned

The Person

  • University graduate, with minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience; investigation/complaint handling experience preferred
  • Ability to think analytically, creatively and laterally
  • Good understanding of EO Law and issues relating to discrimination and equal opportunities
  • Good command of both Chinese and English
  • Investigation and conciliation skills
  • Flexible and adaptive to changes, team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Motivated & committed to EOC’s vision, mission & values
  • Computer literacy in software applications
  • Formal legal / conciliation training and law enforcement experience would be advantageous

[Appointment will be on three-year agreement terms renewable depending on service needs and performance. The remuneration package will consist of a basic salary and a cash allowance in accordance with the Commission’s policy. The appointee will also be eligible for a gratuity on completion of the agreement subject to satisfactory performance and conduct. ]
