The Role Responsibilities


  • CCIB Finance Asia team partners with various businesses, products as well as functional stakeholders to provide analysis, insights and strategic decision support related to Segment performance. The team seeks to influence and help drive the regional performance of the Segment.
  • The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of Segment’s performance in Asia, key dynamics, drivers and trends impacting the business, as well as the opportunity to influence strategic decision making.
  • This role provides exposure to a vast internal network of both business and functional stakeholders. It suits an individual with strong analytical, problem solving, and change management skills with experience of driving change within large multinational companies and can deliver under pressure.


  • The candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of performance analysis of the Segment, progress against plans, highlighting risks and opportunities, and improving processes and effectiveness of the function.

The candidate will

  • support regional client coverage head and provide financial insights at the monthly country client coverage business reviews
  • support and actively participate in monthly regional Transaction Banking top team meeting
  • represent CCIB in regional and country forums (where relevant) to drive alignment of Group CCIB Finance Agenda
  • participate in CCIB Finance leadership meetings
  • support as-hoc business and geographic financial performance queries
  • lead and work with countries to develop 5-year annual country Corporate Plan, forecast and strategy on both management and origination basis
  • manage regional budget restatements and work out country level impact
  • drive the implementation of Asia and AME CCIB Finance Target Operating Model
  • This role requires an individual with hands-on experience and attention to details, a self-starter who is willing to work with limited direct supervision, and someone who can deliver under tight deadlines. As a member of the newly formed team, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to be innovative in not just “what" the team does, i.e. analysis and presentations to senior stakeholders, but also “how" they are delivered. The successful candidate will have the potential to raise the bar on performance by setting high quality standard in supporting demanding senior stakeholders.

The candidate will interact extensively with business and various teams across the bank primarily in Asia in a fast-paced environment. The engagement includes a range of senior business and finance management stakeholders across different Product and Segment teams, as well as finance teams across the Bank’s network.


  • Build insights and analytics capabilities across CCIB Finance Asia to support key decision making.
  • Drive return-focused ‘client’ & ‘product’ profitability reviews, making it embedded in the decision-making process
  • Partner with country business finance teams and country CFOs to drive insight into performance.
  • Undertake detailed peer review and external benchmarking analysis, identifying areas of best practice and key focus areas.
  • Challenge constantly existing MIs and their relevance, drive simplification, standardization and create efficiencies on a regional basis
  • Prepare and coordinate Segment presentations for CCIB Finance Exco, Asia Finance Management Team, Global and Regional Client Coverage Team, and other management forum.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess and highlight to regional business stakeholders the risks to budget and reforecast.
  • Possess the ability to interpret regional financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures


  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of region’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the region operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
  • Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

People and Talent

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and valued behaviours. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the team and country business partners
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of the team and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have affective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
  • Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified with at least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant accounting qualification (such as CIMA / ACCA)
  • Excellent excel and powerpoint skills
  • Experience of dealing directly with senior management within a large multinational organisation, preferably Financial Institution
  • Proven ability to drive change, strong team working and networking capability, success of role is reliant on ability to work with many different teams effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, clear, concise and at appropriate levels of details to tailor to different audiences and purposes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi task and respond in short timeframes
  • High level of numeracy and detail-oriented
