Main Activities:

  • Provide legal support for all financing matters originated by the Sectors & Strategic Distribution, Investment Banking, Coverage and Trade, Treasury Solutions teams, which would include acquisition finance, asset finance, commodities finance, project finance, trade finance, margin finance and corporate banking transactions
  • Prepare/review, negotiate and approve the relevant documentation on financing matters
  • Monitor, identify and advise on legal risks in North Asia in support of the financing business, including advice on avoiding or mitigating such legal risks
  • Monitor, identify and advise on changes in banking and finance laws in North Asia
  • Instruct and supervise external counsel, including managing costs of external counsel
  • Assist General Counsel on other legal matters

Main Internal & External relations:

  • Staff members in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and other Asia Pacific locations (including front office, operations, compliance and risk departments)
  • Legal department in Paris
  • External counsels, clients and other transaction parties

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience

General Skills:

  • Hong Kong qualified
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in banking and finance with a leading Hong Kong or international law firm with experience in one or more areas of cross-border financing
  • Strong familiarity with Hong Kong and PRC laws and market practice for financing documentation
  • Must be able to read/write/speak fluent Mandarin and English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a team player
  • Proactive and motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Resilient and able to prioritise and work under pressure
