The Role Responsibilities

The role holder is accountable for contributing to the development and implementation of an impactful People Agenda for Risk & CFCC, aligned to the Group’s People Strategy and the strategic priorities of Risk and CFCC, in partnership with the Head of HR Risk & CFCC, HR Centres of Expertise and the Management Teams.

Working with a strong commercial focus on return on investment, and agility to move to where the work is, the role holder will work horizontally across both Risk and CFCC MT leaders at Group MT-1 level to drive the adoption and impact of the People Agenda. Through this, the role holder is core to the fulfilment of the strategic change agenda and the function’s sustainable business performance. The role holder will partner relevant individual Risk and CFCC MT leaders on their area of sponsorship and drive the People Agenda through this partnership.

The role holder will take the lead on pan-Risk & CFCC people processes, ensuring levels of capabilities and performance are aligned with current and future business requirements and also deliver appropriate and relevant HR advice, ensuring that this is in line with the overarching business strategy, governance processes and risk appetite.

Strategy

  • Partner the HoHR Risk & CFCC with the ongoing development and shaping of the future focused, ambitious People Agenda
  • Partner with the HR Lead, Productivity Programme Transformation and relevant HRBPs, CoEs and leaders to build and execute the people transformation plan in alignment to the People Agenda, working closely with the MT members to embed the Target Operating Model and NWOW
  • Lead the global talent, culture & inclusion agendas for Risk and CFCC – to attract and retain the best talent, partnering with Talent & Resourcing
  • Partner with the relevant People Capability Head to drive an impactful skills and capabilities plan - identifying future skills and appropriate interventions from both the leadership and technical skills perspective, working closely with the HR Lead, GCFO Transformation to ensure the plan is an enabler to the TOMs and NWOW.
  • Collaborate and partner with Regional HR SPOC’s, key market HRBPs working on the Risk & CFCC agenda to ensure plans are built and executed with a strong balance of global and local nuances, driving enhanced experience for colleagues across the Bank in Risk and CFCC roles.
  • Collaborate with Regional HR SPOC’s, Lead HRBPs in key markets, and HR COEs in setting People Plans and influencing HR products and processes.
  • Be a strong advocate of employee experience, influencing senior leaders and HR products and processes to ensure an employee-centric approach.

Business

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Risk & CFCC functions, their role within SCB and connection with the SCB strategy with particular focus on creating a culture of trust across SCB.
  • Be a disruptor, building new capabilities and driving culture change and driving global change initiatives with stakeholders and wider teams
  • In partnership with the COO & GBS HR team, further build out our GBS model, driving evolution of an adaptable, right-sized, right-shored operating model in line with our 2025 targets.
  • Lead global People Forums for Risk & CFCC and drive projects and deliverables that relate to the agreed People Plan.

Processes

  • Work closely with senior leaders on key people processes such as senior leader hiring connected with our D&I strategy
  • Identify areas for improvement in HR processes, providing feedback and escalating issues where appropriate to relevant COEs to enhance client experience and improve productivity within HR

People and Talent

  • Influence the team to lead and deliver specific projects and deliverables as determined by the HR scorecard and GCFO business priorities. This may include coordinating with multi-skilled teams across HR.
  • Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including risk and control partners.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people.
  • Develop and embed a high-performance culture with specific focus on capability, effectiveness and productivity
  • Develop talent to ensure a high-quality succession pipeline at all levels and sponsor ongoing development activities that focus on the identified high performing and high potential individuals within the businesses
  • Focus on inter-region and global talent opportunities and pipelines

Risk Management

  • Understand the risk and control environment in HR’s area of responsibility and drive rectification as required
  • Understand and help manage the people-related risk profile of CFCC & Risk including operational and reputational risk, to Group Standards
  • Coordinate global and major thematic risk & control responses within Risk and CFCC as part of the global process
  • Support the effective implementation of Risk Management framework within the role remit
  • Ensure effective processes are in place to identify, manage, monitor and report risk

Governance

  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct, as it relates to the role remit, to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture.
  • Engage with relevant audit report findings across the relevant functions and ensure feedback is acted upon.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, protecting and enhancing the Group’s reputation and image and developing the HR brand.
  • Establish and maintain a robust relationship with local regulators (where required), industry bodies and relevant government institutions

Regulatory & Business conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate

  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: Degree or professional qualification from a recognised academic institution / professional body; role holder may possess further qualifications
  • Licences and Certifications/accreditations: Desirable - Professional certifications in HR or related commercial discipline
